Banner help

Posted in

Hi there,
I have tried to find this information but cannot.
I have two questions that I am hoping to receive clarification on. I am using woo commerce and have the integration plug in.
1. I need to change the url on a banner to direct the banner to the url of my choice. I have tried changing the shortcode in the banner set up but it won’t allow it, I have tried changing the html on the published banner page but it won’t let me. I am new to this so I am obviously missing a step. I am afraid the documentation on shortcode doesn’t explain where you can actually make these changes. i.e.It states: You can use the url attribute to link the banner image to a specific URL:
[affiliates_banner id=”142″ url=”http://www.example.com/foobar/”]
Where so I do this???? How do I add this shortcode to the image banner I have created??
I want to link the banner with a specific image to my landing page in woo commerce and give this banner to my affiliates. What would that code be? e.g.. www.example.com/go/gridiron-offer/
2. where do the affiliates get the banners. I would prefer not to have a registration process, and add affiliates myself. In this case how do they access the banners- do I have to send them the link to the banner page or do I send them a banner? Do I append their userid too. Is this possible without them accessing the registration setup? And what would that banner look like? using the above site url?

I apologise if these question has been asked before but I have searched the search, so to speak, and cannot find one specifically related.

Thanks

    Thanks, Antonio. I have finally figure out how to input the changes. It has to be done on the affiliates page itself. i.e [affiliates_banner id="142" url="http://www.example.com/go/offer/"] I need to create a banner first, then add the id in the code above and then add the url but I can only do this on the affiliates page input text /visual window. then have to input the affiliate code manually on the html generated to send to the affiliate. Got there in the end!

    Now I just have to figure out how to get the affiliates tracking back after they are sent to paypal via the woo commerce direct checkout button – am assuming that that is automatic? I only want referrals to track that have resulted in a purchase. How can I do this?
    Thanks again

      Hi Nigel,
      if you want to get commissions with purchases, you need the shopping cart integration. If you are using Woocommerce, then you need the Woocommerce Integration (in Affiliates->Settings:Integrations you can get this integration).
      Please have a look at the documentation page.

    Thanks, Antonio.
    Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to log in as a different user- The log in form doesn’t show and I added the custom css (.affiliates-registration .required {
    border: 2px solid #efefef !important;
    }
    you provided on another help topic.

    Where do I do this???? You said I had to change the shortcake in the affiliates area- where in the affiliates area? I cannot do it in the banner page I created and cannot access the log in.
    How do I add this shortcode to the image banner I have created?? How do I create the banner I need! The banners I create only give the first bit of the url http://www.example.com not the http://www.example.com/go/gridiron-offer of the url.
    http://www.example.com/go/gridiron-offer/ affiliate link????.
    Thanks

      Hi Nigel,
      you can use the shortcode in a page. Usually it is added in the affiliate-area page, so only affiliates can see the result. If an user who is not an affiliate visit this page, he will see form to login as affiliate.
      If you want, you can send me dashboard admin access to antonio[at]itthinx[dot]com indicating this topic and I’ll have a look at your settings.
      Kind regards,
      Antonio B.

    Hi Nigel,
    1.- The shortcodes should be in the affiliate-area page. So, when the affiliate visits this page, the shortcode append the affiliate’s ID to the banner url.
    2.- You can close the affiliates registration (from Affiliates->Settings:Registration)
    When you create an affiliate from the dashboard, you can use the username to link this affiliate to a wordpress user. So this user can logged in and visit the affiliate-area where he can see his custom links, banners, ….
    Kind regards,
    Antonio B.
