Email confirmation of manually added affiliates + affiliate url in admin

Posted in

Hi Antonio,

I have 4 questions:
1. When I manually add a new affiliate, nothing happens. No email confirmation is being sent to the new affiliate to activate their account.
2. When I look at my WooCommerce / WordPress users, the added affiliates are not shown either. Is this normal?
3. Also I find it strange that affiliate is not one of the user-roles (like subscriber, customer, vendor, etc.). Is this normal?
4. Is there a way that we can see the affiliate-link in our admin? This would be handy in our communication with the affiliates.

Rgrdz,
Marco

    Hi Marco,

    Don’t worry about the name.

Affiliates would be active whether they are added manually, or they have registered by the registration form.

The only difference is that when an affiliate is added manually, there is no User( WordPress user ) record for this affiliate.

    Cheers

Hi George (sorry for the wrong name, I mixed up different support blogs…),

Okay, so in order for a new affiliate to become active they should always fill out the registration form.

Just for my understanding: could you explain to me the point of adding the affiliates manually, if the manually added affiliate cannot be activated?

    Rgrdz,
    Marco

    Hi Marco,

When you add an affiliate manually there is no notification.
Also, the affiliate is not a WP user meaning that if the affiliate is not linked to an existing or new user, then the affiliate doesn’t exist as a user.
However, if a new affiliate registers through the registration form in affiliates area page and the site allows new user registrations, then a new user will be added as well.

Once the affiliate is added, you can see the affiliate’s link if you go to Affiliates>Manage Affiliates and tick the “Links” filter under section Culumns.

    Kind regards,
    George
