Sale from a sales page reached through an affiliate link not recorded.

I have made a test purchase using a different paypal a/c via a sales page that I reached using an affiliate link and no sale recorded. The test was done in a private window in my browser. Can you help?

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for sending me admin access to your site.
Apparently this is why the affiliates don’t get granted with a commission.
The PayPal button must be enclosed within
    [affiliates_paypal_form]…[/affiliates_paypal_form].
The alternative option is for IPN only.
Add the shortcode blocks, try again and let me know if this is resolved.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi Nick,

Your recurring payments come from the same PayPal button?
If you can confirm that the button is enclosed in the proper shortcodes,
    [affiliates_paypal_form]

    [/affiliates_paypal_form]
in the page containing the PayPal button and that these shortcodes render properly, ie not showing up literally when visiting this page, i think it’s better to have a look at your Dashboard.
You can send me temporary admin access to george at itthinx dot com.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George,

In answer 1.The recurring payments are from other buttons on the website for a course.

      2. I did not use the short codes, but used the alternative you suggest before the end of the .

And I have set you up as an admin to take a look at the dashboard – the email should have been sent to you by now. The sales page with the PayPal button is on the front page of the wp site, feel free to edit the html.

      Kind regards,
      Nick

    Hi Nick,

In order to locate your IPN URL, go to your Dashboard under Affiliates > PayPal. There, you will find it under the section PayPal. Copy and paste that URL in your PayPal Preferences.
I have posted a screenshot as well, where the IPN URL can be seen in the red circle.
    Screenshot.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hello George,

Yes I have copied my IPN URL from the section in the Affiliates plug-in with my own IPN and then pasted that it in my own PayPal IPN section. Sorry but it is still not working for another test sale!

Can I check, this is the only place (that is only on the PayPal website) that I need to do this? Am I right to think that the button does not need it?

Strangely I am receiving notifications for direct sales, that are being made by my existing customers recurring payments!

      Regards,
      Nick

    Hi Nick,

The message from PayPal is probably the reason why the affiliate doesn’t get a commission.
If you noticed in your Dashboard under Affiliates > PayPal, you can use [affiliates_paypal_notify_url] shortcode alternatively like this:
    <input type=”hidden” name=”notify_url” value=”[affiliates_paypal_notify_url]” />
and preferably use text mode when creating/ editing the page containing the PayPal button.

Please try these and let me know if the issue persists.

    Cheers,
    George

      Hi George,

I had added that before the closing of my paypal button.

Here is a cut and paste of the last two lines of the button…

Thanks for any suggestions as to where to go from here.

Further to the above, I have now had an email from paypal:

“Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). Instant Payment Notifications sent to the following URL(s) are failing:

    [affiliates_paypal_notify_url]

If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information. If this problem continues, IPNs may be disabled for your account.l”

    Not sure I understand this?

    Hi Nick,

Please make sure you have installed Affiliates PayPal integration through your Dashboard, under Affiliates > Settings > Integrations.
Then, follow this guide in the Documentation, to properly setup your configuration.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George,

I have indeed installed Paypal integration and have added the code at the end of the paypal buttons on the sales page and made sure the set up at paypal returns to a thank-you page, (but not within the wp site as it must be private).

Unfortunately, although the payment works and returns the “test customer” to the thank-you page, the sale is not recorded to the test affiliate.

      Any ideas?

      Nick
