Tracking Hits Correctly, but not Referrals

Posted in

We used Affiliate Pro + PayPal last year. We are getting geared up to offer our annual course this year. Everything is the same, but we are having issues.

I just renewed, assuming updating would help solve issues.

The Affiliate Pro updated without issue. However, the PayPal plugin is unable to update. I do not see a download for this on my download page to do it manually. It is giving me an error message. I do have my service key in there.

Lastly, the issue I am hoping an update will correct….
When I test everything, Affiliate Pro is correctly tracking hits, however, it is not recording referrals when a purchase happens with the PayPal button – I am using the shortcode.

It looks like you still have a user on our site from last time we had issues.
Email me and I can give you your login.

Here is the page I was testing out PayPal buttons. There are each for $1.

Please help.

Thank you!

The issue was resolved after setting the proper IPN URL under PayPal.
When IPN is not set in PayPal or when IPN is blocked, Affiliates plugin won’t get a response so the referral cannot be recorded properly.

Thank you for this. I deleted the old plugin and installed this one. Everything is now up to date. I tested again and it is still not working.

I created a log in for you.

**Last year, we had a problem where WooCommerce was conflicting with using Affiliate Pro with PayPal. When we deactivated WooCommerce it corrected the problem. Currently, WooCommerce is deactivated.

    Please help!

I’ve just sent you the integration.
You can safely deactivate and delete your current version of the integration.
The new version can be installed through your Dashboard under Plugins > Add new and then click Upload Plugin.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi Jenna,

You can install Affiliates PayPal Payments Standard manually.
Please indicate your email address so that i can attach you a copy of the latest version.
If the issue persists after updating, i think i should have a closer look on that.

    Cheers,
    George

Hi, Yes, I understand all of this. I took screen captures of all of this. The error message, the shortcode, the key, etc.

I assure you the plugin is installed, it is activated, it will not update, it will not track referrals.

I get this message on the plugin page: There is a new version of Affiliates PayPal Payments Standard available. View version 1.2.2 details. Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin. (even though it was able to update Affiliates Pro no problem).

When I try to update it says this: An error occurred while updating Affiliates PayPal Payments Standard: Update package not available.

When I look at the “text” view of my demo page this is what I have.

    Hi Jenna,

What error message do you get? Also, when does this error message appear?

Since your account at itthinx.com is active and you have inserted your Service key under Itthinx plugin settings, you will be able to receive updates when they are available. If there is no Update notification for Affiliates PayPal Payments Standard on your Dashboard under plugins, means that this plugin is up-to-date. FYI, the latest version for Affiliates PayPal Payments Standard is 1.2.2.

After visiting your link, it seems that either Affiliates PayPal Payments Standard is not active, or the shortcode is blocked from rendering properly.
Try editing this page, switch from visual to text editor and make sure that the shortcodes appear like this:
    [affiliates_paypal_form]
    …your button code appears here…
    [/affiliates_paypal_form]

    Kind regards,
    George
