    Kento,
I really like the plugin nice job with the documentation too except I am having trouble with the following bit of code:

    First off I am running
    WordPress 3.3.2
    JigoShop 1.2.2
    Affiliates Pro 2.0.0
    Affiliates Jigoshop Integration 1.0.0
    Fresh Shop Theme 1.7

My Affiliate Features and Benefits page links to my signup / join page on which this is currently the only piece of code:

    [affiliates_registration terms_post_id="2680" registered_profile_link_text="Thanks for Joining Please Click Here to Login" registered_profile_link_url="http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/" /]

The terms_post_id portion works as expected, however the registered_profile_link_text and registered_profile_link_url attributes are not.

I have also tried the following variations:
    [affiliates_registration terms_post_id="2680" registered_profile_link_text="test" registered_profile_link_url="http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/" /]

    [affiliates_registration terms_post_id="2680" registered_profile_link_text='test' registered_profile_link_url='http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/' /]

    [affiliates_registration terms_post_id="2680" registered_profile_link_text=test registered_profile_link_url=http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/ /]

    Have also tried

    [affiliates_registration terms_post_id="2680" redirect ="true" redirect_to="http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/" /]

And again with the above formatting changes. Also I did read all documentation and even made sure per Yvette’s post to put a space after the last quotes to separate the /]

Also have wrapped both in the:

    [affiliates_is_not_affiliate] and [affiliates_is_affiliate] shortcodes

I know the e-mail the sign-up page generates is from WordPress but I was hoping to get a little different result on the webpage after the new Affiliate clicked the submit button but no matter how I format it – the above codes return the following on the webpage.

    Thanks for signing up!
Please check your email for the confirmation link.
    Log in here.

From my testing I noticed that they can login to my Affiliates Area page fine without “confirming” the email. So I was hoping to have them copy the password from the email, return to the Signup page click my specified link and enter their login details.

    The email contains the following:

    Username: xxx xxxxx
    Password: xxxxxxxxxx
    http://berkeyblue.com/wp-login.php

So on the new affiliate/ signup page I was hoping to get more like the following result on the page after the new Affiliate clicked the submit button

Thanks for Joining Please Click Here to Login or some variation! Which would take them to my Affiliates Are to Login.

    Questions

    1)is my formatting correct?

2)and are my assumptions correct that the attributes for registered_profile_link_text and registered_profile_link_url should return the text with an imbedded url after the submit button is clicked on the sigh up form?

3)and are my assumptions correct that the attributes with redirect =”true” and redirect_to=”http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/” should take the user to the redirected url?
4)and can I buy you a beer if you can get me out this pickle? – LOL

Thanks in advance for your help!
    Greg

      Hi Greg,

Thanks for providing detailed information about what you try to achieve, this certainly makes it easier to help 🙂
      Regarding your questions:
      1, 2 & 3 – The first version looks ok, but … I would recommend another approach:

      [affiliates_is_not_affiliate]
Please log in to access the affiliate area.
      [affiliates_login_redirect redirect_url="http://berkeyblue.com/affiliate/affiliate-area/"]
Not an affiliate? Join our affiliate program:
      [affiliates_registration]
      [/affiliates_is_not_affiliate]

This is basically the same as the first part of the generated affiliate area, except the login has the redirect_url parameter added.

      4 – Sure 😉

Let me know if that works out, it’s a much more flexible way to handle that, the parameters of the registration shortcode your were trying to use are actually a bit outdated … I will add a note in the documentation.

      Cheers

      • BerkeyBlue June 1, 2012 at 5:46 pm #

        Kento

Been busy only now got back to this!

The code you included above is not how I envisioned handling the registration of affiliates for my website it is not the login redirect that I want to incorporate it is the [affiliates_registration] redirect that I want to work if the “first version looks OK” then why does it not work – what am I missing? I don’t want the affiliate to click the WordPress Login links these are confusing and do nothing to enhance the working of Affiliates Pro.

What do you mean when you say the “parameters of the registration shortcode your were trying to use are actually a bit outdated”? More elaboration on the registration short codes would be helpful.

Also field for paypal account would be most helpful in the registration form otherwise you have to ask for it later!

        Thanks

        Greg

        • BerkeyBlue June 2, 2012 at 5:56 pm #

Also do not want the Affiliate to be directed to Berkeyblue.com WordPress on log out – how can I get the redirect function to work for log out as well!

          Thanks
          Greg

        • kento June 3, 2012 at 10:01 am #

Thanks for clarifying that Greg, if the parameters don’t work as expected there might be a bug involved. Let me check that. About the email, the email they use is also the default for PayPal unless you indicate it explicitly (have a look at the shortcodes section in the documentation for that). Cheers

        • kento June 19, 2012 at 11:37 am #

Checked the registered_profile_link_text and registered_profile_link_url attributes, they are working ok, what happens is that the documentation might have led you to believe that this would show something right after registration but that is not the case. The profile link and text are shown when a registered affiliate visits a page where the shortcode is embedded, instead of showing the form that allows to sign up.

i have installed and cannot get any shortcodes to work and i cannot find the generate page from the options menu to help get me started… love the plugin please help

    • kento March 24, 2012 at 11:27 am #

I’ll help you to make the shortcodes work, can you please post how you are using them or shall we have a look on the site directly? About the Generate button, it should be there unless the version is outdated. We can update that as well.

    Hello,

I am currently using Jigoshop Light and Affiliates at our website:

    http://www.astrasuite.com/astrablog/online-shop/

So far, so good. It is a simple implementation. Does Affiliates Pro with Jigoshop have a feature where commission percentages are by product ?

We plan to have different products, and these come from different sources with different profit margins, where we cannot give the same rate for all products.

This is more crucial to us than having a rate for each affiliate, which can be a lot of work if there are hundreds of affiliates.

    Thanks

    • kento March 17, 2012 at 1:50 pm #

      Hi Joe,
Affiliates Pro allows to use a referral amount method which provides an alternative to rate-based or fixed amount referrals.
For your requirement, such a referral amount method would have to be coded along with a way to assign referral rates to individual products. If you want to clarify this customization for you, please contact me before acquiring the Pro pack.

    Hi there,
Is there a way to change the affiliate of a referral. I have a guy who sent out the wrong link and a referral came in direct instead of via him. It is now recorded incorrectly. Do I just load his details again on the affiliate’s site? Or is there a way to change the affiliate for that person easily?

    • kento January 17, 2012 at 3:27 pm #

Hi Yvette, there’s no way to change the affiliate related to a referral through the user interface (this is on purpose) but you can set the status of the referral that has been recorded to rejected. If you want to assign a new affiliate to that person and do not want the previous link to be active, then you can simply remove the previous affiliate.

  5. Yvette January 15, 2012 at 6:19 pm #

    Oh I understand now.
Ok great. Will check it out.
    Thanks!
    Yvette

    Hi there,
When an affiliate registers he gets an email giving him his log in details and a link to go to where he can log in. When he logs in there he is taken to the wordpress login page and not to the affiliate management pages. How can I change this link to go to a page on the site instead.
    Yvette

    • kento January 13, 2012 at 7:31 pm #

Maybe this plugin can help? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/peters-login-redirect/

      • Yvette January 13, 2012 at 7:56 pm #

Can’t be a plugin Kento. Surely? It’s your system that sends out the email to the affiliate that registers. How can a plugin change the link in the email the Affiliate Pro system sends out?

        • kento January 14, 2012 at 11:27 am #

WordPress is sending the email, not the Affiliates plugin. What the affiliate receives is the normal welcome message that WordPress sends to newly registered users. If what you want is to change the login screen itself, I’d suggest to search a plugin that does that here http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/login

  7. Yvette January 2, 2012 at 11:30 am #

    Hi Kento,
I just can’t get to think like a programmer. I am trying to get the embed code to render. Where am I going wrong?
    This is what I have.

    [affiliates_affiliate_link content="Zero means everything!" a_class="linkalink clear" a_id="big_fat_warning_link" a_style="font-size:2em;font-style:italics;color:#300;padding:1em;display:block;text-decoration:none;" a_target="_blank" a_title="Click it, you know you want to"]Awesome link[/affiliates_affiliate_link]

    [affiliates_affiliate_link render="Zero means everything!" a_class="linkalink clear" a_id="big_fat_warning_link" a_style="font-size:2em;font-style:italics;color:#300;padding:1em;display:block;text-decoration:none;" a_target="_blank" a_title="Click it, you know you want to" /]

    • kento January 2, 2012 at 11:48 am #

Both of them are correct, in what does the outcome they produce differ from what you expect? I can imagine in the first case, you’d expect to see Awesome link but you will get Zero means everything because specifying the content attribute overrides the actual content within the shortcode tags.

  8. Yvette January 2, 2012 at 9:40 am #

Thanks Kento. I understand about the privacy however, our affiliates are not NORMAL affiliates. They are really agents. We expect more from them than affiliates. They do start off as affiliates though so I’ll take your advice for the automation part.
Thanks for a fabulous plugin! I’m getting the hang of it 🙂

  9. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 8:53 pm #

I have tried to show name and email using this code:
    [affiliates_affiliate_stats type="stats-referrals" data="name" data="email" data="message" show_pending="true" show_rejected="true" /]
    I also tried show_name=”true” etc. Didn’t work.
    lol
I’m trying hard. Not hard enough?

    • kento December 30, 2011 at 9:43 pm #

It’s almost right, if you want to show them the message you would use:

      [affiliates_affiliate_stats type="stats-referrals" data="message" /]

      To show message and name:

      [affiliates_affiliate_stats type="stats-referrals" data="name,message" /]

But I would strongly advise against showing affiliates any of that because of the obvious privacy issues that this drags along.

  10. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 12:54 pm #

I like this code. But how do I show the embed information to the affiliate instead of the actual visual.

    [affiliates_affiliate_link content="Zero means everything!" a_class="linkalink clear" a_id="big_fat_warning_link" a_style="font-size:2em;font-style:italics;color:#300;padding:1em;display:block;text-decoration:none;" a_target="_blank" a_title="Click it, you know you want to"]Awesome link[/affiliates_affiliate_link]

    • kento December 30, 2011 at 1:18 pm #

Please read the section on affiliate links here.

  11. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 2:12 am #

How do I create a new line of questions or does this just go on and on? On our site the ebooks that we sell do not give commission to the affiliates but they do create clients for our affiliates. When I incorporate the Jigoshop, do the affiliates have to earn on the products? I don’t want to start this and waste time. I’d rather just set up a paypal purchase in that case, however, the Jigoshop will be great if no comms have to go to the affiliates.

    • kento December 30, 2011 at 12:19 pm #

If you don’t want to pay the affiliates commissions on sales you can set the referral amount to 0. You will still see referrals but with zero amounts.

      • Yvette December 30, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

Ok great. That way people can at least see who has bought a book and maybe follow up or something.

  12. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 2:03 am #

Hi Kento. I have put this code in on my Affiliate Links page. The problem is that this page shows to the public. Shouldn’t affiliate pages only show to affiliates once they are logged in?
Anyhow, this is the code and what I don’t understand is that the render code (the supposed short code) is exactly the same as the one above. Is it because I am using MD5?
The very bottom link I put in to see how it looks and also for them to use but then the link actually comes up. How can I give them the code to copy and paste somewhere.

    This is your affiliate link

    [affiliates_affiliate_link /]

Embed the code below in your emails and links to keep it short

    [affiliates_affiliate_link render=”code” /]

    [affiliates_affiliate_link content="Zero means everything!" a_class="linkalink clear" a_id="big_fat_warning_link" a_style="font-size:2em;font-style:italics;color:#300;padding:1em;display:block;text-decoration:none;" a_target="_blank" a_title="Click it, you know you want to"]Awesome link[/affiliates_affiliate_link]

You can go to the site http://wisemanconcept.com and it will show. You will see. Everyone can see it.

    • kento December 30, 2011 at 12:17 pm #

Showing affiliate pages only to affiliates: you can use any access control plugin to restrict access to pages, for example http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-access-control/ does a nice job at that. You can use it to restrict access to affiliate pages to members only.

The second shortcode renders the markup, but in your case it appears exactly as the first shortcode. This sound very familiar … maybe right double quotes again? Make sure that the quotes used on render=”code” are real double quotes.

The links are supposed to be shown to anyone, affiliates and non-affiliates, so that those who are not yet affiliated can see what resources they will get (banners etc.)
You can also use WAC to restrict access to that page. It also provides shortcodes that you can use to show alternative content for members and non-members.

  13. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 1:37 am #

I put this short code on a Referral Stats page for Affiliates. When I log in as an affiliate nothing shows. Where am I going wrong?
    [affiliates_affiliate_stats type=”stats-referrals” data=”message” show_pending=”true” show_rejected="true" /]

    • kento December 30, 2011 at 12:05 pm #

This is how it is supposed to work. It doesn’t show anything if you’re not an affiliate.

  14. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 1:04 am #

And suddenly it just worked! Sorry. Ignore my previous comment.

    • kento December 30, 2011 at 12:03 pm #

What did you change to make it work?

      • Yvette December 30, 2011 at 12:19 pm #

I had to put a space between the ” and the / at the end. There was no space.

  15. Yvette December 30, 2011 at 1:03 am #

Hi Kento. I have now tried everything with this plugin. It just won’t work. When I log in as an affiliate I am taken to the WordPress profile page and not the Affiliate profile page.
This is the redirect code I have put in. Where am I going wrong?
    [itthinx_login_redirect redirect_url=”http://wisemanconcept.com/affiliates-only” /]

  16. Yvette December 28, 2011 at 8:31 pm #

OH! I see! Oh my. I have so much to learn. Ok let me try again.

    • kento December 28, 2011 at 8:55 pm #

If you have any further questions please ask. It will sure help others as well 🙂 The system is designed to be versatile but the default options are configured in a way that should suit your needs.

  17. Yvette December 28, 2011 at 7:49 pm #

I don’t think I’m making myself clear. I want each affiliate to be able to see his activity when he logs in. His own activity only. When I set the settings to the way you have shown, my affiliates can only see their profile. That’s it. Is that the way it is?

    • kento December 28, 2011 at 8:08 pm #

You’re confusing the back end which is targeted at higher-privileged users like administrators with the shortcode extensions that are placed at the front end and are used to show affiliates their data.

Best is take a look at the index Setting up affiliate resources or directly Showing affiliate statistics which offers several subsections on how to set these pages up.

      • Yvette December 30, 2011 at 8:29 pm #

        Hi Kento
My Affiliate statistics are showing at last.
It seems the affiliate can’t see the contact details of the person requesting contact. I can’t see an item on the list of programming that will give them that. Is there such an item? Or do the affiliates not get the referrals contact details?

  18. Yvette December 28, 2011 at 2:28 am #

My log in for affiliates still doesn’t work.

I created a page for Affiliate Area. Put this code on it after installing your plugin:

    [itthinx_login_redirect redirect_url=”http://www.wisemanconcept.com/affiliates-only”/]

    [affiliates_affiliate_profile edit_email="true" show_attributes="paypal_email,referral_amount" edit_attributes="paypal_email" /]

For our control purposes you can only edit your paypal account details and your e-mail address. You can also edit your e-mail address in your profile.

THEN … when the affiliate logs in they can see EVERYONE affiliate details and not only their own. I need them to be able to see their own details only. You know, visits, referrals, etc. Can this not be done?

Hope we can sort this one soon. It will be a major load off my shoulders 🙂

    • kento December 28, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

This (affiliates can access affiliate back end) is because of your permission settings Yvette, when we were talking yesterday you mentioned that this happens. It’s very easy to adjust: Go to Affiliates > Options and under Permissions make sure that there are checkmarks only for the Administrator role. Then hit Save, log out and log in as an affiliate. As affiliates are simple subscribers to the blog, they won’t have access to it. Of course this is the default setting, also on the Screenshots page you can see the default settings. After adjusting that you should be ready to rock 😉
