Affiliate Data Gone

I had someone deactivate Affiliates to see if that was the plugin conflicting with OptimizePress. When I went to do my monthly payout, everything was gone! Is there everything still in the database that we can repopulate? Please help!

I don’t want to lose data after last backup date. If I have all affiliates sign up again, how can I make it so that they don’t overlap old affiliate IDs and links. Is there a quick piece of code to start IDs at 100?

You can use Affiliates Import (a free extension you can install) to get the affiliates back in, the Affiliates Import documentation page has details on how it is used.

For example, export the new affiliates since the last backup (or export all and remove the older entries from the file and leave the new ones). Import the old tables into the database, then import the new affiliates. I would recommend to gather any accepted totals per affiliate since the last backup so you can add an entry for each that reflects the accepted commissions.

The option is UNchecked. What is the next step? All affiliates, traffic data & rates info are gone. This is a catastrophe and need resolution.

      Hi Brian,

That sounds indeed bad, I can understand your worries – I hope that you keep regular backups, as the best advice we can give in this situation is to make use of the latest backup you had from the site’s database and restore the database tables that are related to the system. Please let us know if you need help in restoring these tables from your latest backup and we will be happy to help you do that.

A note on the option itself as this is the only case that I hear of in thousands of installations – if the option was active and the plugin was deactivated, it would have wiped all data and as the default value is to have the option disabled, it would now appear as unchecked – this option unchecked is obviously the default. As you can see on the General Settings documentation page, this option is clearly described to be used only to start clean and the plugin wouldn’t wipe out its data in error or by chance. Someone must have gone to the settings, consciously enabled the option to delete the data then went to the Plugins section and deactivated it.

There even is a very clear note right along with the setting that says “CAUTION: If this option is active while the plugin is deactivated, ALL affiliate and referral data will be DELETED. If you want to retrieve data about your affiliates and their referrals and are going to deactivate the plugin, make sure to back up your data or do not enable this option. By enabling this option you agree to be solely responsible for any loss of data or any other consequences thereof.”

I just wanted to make it clear that this didn’t happen by chance. We’re here to help you recover your data from your latest backup. For this we will require temporary admin and FTP access and also access to the database. You can provide the credentials to support at itthinx dot com – please make sure to include a reference to this topic so we know which case the credentials are for.

      Cheers

    Hi Brian,

There is an option in Affiliates > Settings under section Deactivation and data persistence. If the option was enabled, then all your data has been deleted upon deactivation.
All data resides in the database, therefore if the option was enabled, then there is no data left.

    Kind regards,
    George
