    Hi Kevin,

Please have a look at the Affiliates Area page. This page exists for all the affiliates, so when an affiliate logs in, the shortcodes on this page render information for this affiliate.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hey George,

Ok I think I get it, so when I add an affiliate they will get an affiliate area and if I insert that shortcode in their affiliate area it will generate a new link they can share with their username instead of the ID. and it will still track all of their stats and referrals if they use the username link. Do I have this right

    Hi Kevin,

In general, all the affiliates get their info, links, statistics etc. in a page called Affiliate Area. That is the page where you usually put the shortcode for the affiliate link and/or url, therefore this is where you should put the shortcode i mentioned before.
If you don’t have an affiliate area page, you can always generate the default page by visiting Affiliates>Settings>Pages and press the Generate button.

    Kind regards,
    George

Thank you George, unfortunately I am still not really following. I understand that I need to use the shortcode, but where do I insert it to get the system to apply the username to the url link rather than the ID. If I am adding an affiliate and I want to issue them an affiliate link that uses their username in the link they would give to their customers. what steps do I have to take to get the link they are issued to use the username they register instead of the ID.

I apologise for needing such detailed information but I have played around in the backend of the site and I really don’t see how it works

Your help with this would mean a lot to me thank you

So after enabling the plugin, you can use this shortcode
    [affiliates_by_username][affiliates_url][/affiliates_by_username].
When an affiliate visits the Affiliate Area or whatever affiliate dashboard page you use, the shortcode will render a link that looks like
    http://www.example.com/?affiliates=billy
whereas the [affiliates_url] shortcode would render something like
    http://www.example.com/?affiliates=1

    Kind regards,
    George

This was very helpful I have purchased the plugin and read the documentation I understand you use a shortcode to enable this. could you please explain a little more clearly. So if i have an affiliate what do I actually do with the shortcode to make it possible to use the username instead of id. that isnt clear where would I embed the shortcode exactly

    Hi Kevin,

You are not completely free to use whatever you prefer in the affiliates url, but if you use Affiliates by Username, you can use the affiliate’s username instead of id.

    Kind regards,
    George
