Affiliates Pro + CF7 integration – not recording referrals

Posted in

Hi, we purchased Affiliates Pro with the contact form 7 plugin and although hits are being recorded against an affiliate, referrals are not. I’ve removed the solution and reinstalled, left all options at default, disabled all caching (WP SuperCache – also tried adding in to exclude the url variable). I’ve tried using just a basic CF7 form with only your-name, your-email – leaving the CF7 integration to track all forms and also tried just targeting that form ID – nothing works.

Currently running:
WP 4.2.2
Affiliates Pro 2.8.6
CF7 4.1.2
Affiliates CF7 plugin 3.3.0

Is there something obvious I need to configure as I’ve followed your guide to the letter.

many thanks
James

    Hi James,

That’s good to know that you have resolved the issue.

When you use MD5, the affiliates’ ids should be hashed, the rest of the URL remains the same.
ie if you have a normal affiliate link like this
    http://www.example.com/?affiliate=1
the equivalent link if you use MD5 should be
    http://www.example.com/?affiliate=c4ca4238a0b923820dcc509a6f75849b

As you notice, the second link has the hashed value of 1, but for the affiliates system these two links are obviously two different links.

If you don’t get a similar result when you use MD5, please let me know so that we can have a look at your site.

    Kind regards,
    George

Ok worked out I need to have user registration enabled under wordpress general settings, users can register correctly but still when MD5 hashing enabled referrals are not recorded – only works with that option off – not a huge issue but would be nice to have it working.

    thanks

    Hi Kento

think I’ve found the issue, created a new affiliate and noticed the referral link when using MD5 hashing was not different from the test account previously used – turned off option and referrals work fine.

Any idea why when using MD5, referrals are not logged against the affiliate but hits are recorded ok?

    cheers
    James

    Hi James,

Apart from the CF7 forms, does the affiliate system work normally? What i mean is do the referrals get recorded if you use normal affiliate links and put test referrals?
I’m asking that just to narrow down the issue.

    Kind regards,
    George
