Affiliates Pro / WooCommerce questions…

Posted in

• Is there a page that lists current version of all your software and plugins?

Without being able to update via the WordPress admin, it’s kind of hard to tell if one is up to date or not. Have you considered using one of the 3rd party updaters, like “Installer”?

• Is there a way to attribute an existing woocommerce order to an Affiliate after the fact, if they didn’t use their link properly to place the order?

• Also, we’ve noticed that on the Referrals page, the Affiliate search does not work. If you choose an affiliate and then hit apply, the page just reloads with the first affiliate chosen again, which basically makes it impossible to get to any referrals to edit them.

• We’re also finding that commissions math seems off. Is that related to this notice?:

> You are running PHP with BCMath Arbitrary Precision Mathematics disabled.
> Your Affiliates plugin will use substitute functions, but you should seriously
> consider getting BCMath enabled to avoid loss of precision.

Thanks,
Michael

BTW, the comments above refer to the “Referrals” tab, which seems to be broken.

The “Affiliates & Referrals” could use the Status filter as well, as it’s a bit misleading as the results include rejected referrals in the the total counts.

Also, if the “Affiliates & Referrals” tab had Edit links the “Referrals” tab seems almost unneeded. Just a thought

Thanks for suggesting the status filter on the Affiliates & Referrals screen, I agree that would be useful. This view makes sense when you’re comparing the performance of the affiliates, it’s not intended to replace the Referrals view which is focused on referral details.

There definitely seems to be a bug in the filter, as hitting “Clear” did clear the Affiliate that was stuck there, but no subsequent search worked to select an affiliate.

I was just thinking that when you download the plugin, it would note the current version you’re downloading at least. That’s who the WordPress.prg repository works.

Updates : Okay. it’d still be nice to have a place on your site that lists the current versions with links to the change logs for each. Is that somewhere?

Attributing an order : We did that. It would be a nice feature though to be able to just select an order for the attribution.

Search : Okay, that was not clear at all. The Clear button worked, but changing the Affiliate filter menu and hitting Apply should also work. Needing to click “Clear” first is not very intuitive. It seems broken. If anything there should be a note in the interface to that effect.

Precision : I’ll check with accounting and get more details to report back.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Thanks for the suggestions Michael, I’ll check on the filters to make sure we don’t have a bug there.

Regarding the versions, normally the plugins come with the changelog contained in the readme.txt in the plugin’s root folder or you will find a changelog.txt there. Also the update notifier recognizes the current and latest version and we’re working on providing automatic updates for the premium plugins as well. With that, having a list of current versions on the site, would really be odd to maintain … there are a log of plugins and I don’t think that anyone would actually care to browse it and the one they have installed on their sites 😉

Updates : you’re notified on the dashboard when new versions are available for most of the plugins. Automatic updates will be available soon for those plugins that don’t support that yet.

Attributing an order : this would be done by manually adding a referral from Affiliates > Referrals > Add – I would recommend to add the order number in the description so you can use search to retrieve it.

Search : the filters there are sticky, you can click the Clear button to reset the filters.

Precision : what difference have you found?
