Didn’t Know My Site Made Sales…

Posted in

Hi,

I just learned that my site made sales and the sales are marked as “Direct”. From what I have read on your site, it seems that since the affiliates from my site did not make referrals, the sales from my site were attributed to me site. Is that correct? Also, I understood from reading a different article that if I visit Affiliates > Totals, I’d find the option to create a Mass Payment file which will include the necessary info for Referrals with preferably Accepted status that could be processed in payment gateways that support bulk payments like PayPal. In case I understood correctly, it seems I’d see the Mass Payment option but nothing of the sort exists on my Totals page. What am I not understanding? Hellllp LOL. I created my site when I was homeless and was so overwhelmed, I never realized it made money. I look forward to your response. Thank you.

    Hi Adrienne,

You’re welcome and many thanks for letting me know of your upgrade to the premium version of Affiliates Pro.

Since your referrals are credited to Direct, then in this case you can’t and don’t need to process any payments because as I mentioned earlier the Direct is not an individual affiliate but rather a failsafe option for when no valid affiliate is applicable.

In general, when you have affiliates on your system that will generate income through referrals, all you need to do is generate the Mass Payment file and then use it in gateways that support it(ie PayPal) to process your payments in bulk. The amounts that are sent to your affiliates are withdrawn from your funds, for example if you use the mass payment file in PayPal, then they will be withdrawn from your PayPal funds.

    Kind regards,
    George

Thank you. I misunderstood your Direct explanation. Had I caught my misunderstanding, I would not have paid the $49 until an affiliate or myself made sales. Sigh. Thank you for your response.

    Hi Adrienne,

Welcome to our support forum for Affiliates plugin.

FYI, the Direct is credited with a referral whenever there is a sale on your site and no affiliate is applicable. This also includes sales from customers that arrive on your site ie via a search engine. However, if you don’t want to credit the Direct with referrals then you should visit the Affiliates > Settings > Direct referrals and disable the option.

Regarding Totals and the Mass Payment File, this is a feature of premium versions, Affiliates Pro and Affiliates Enterprise. The free version you are using doesn’t provide that option. If you wish to use it, then you should switch to the one of the aforementioned versions.

    Kind regards,
    George

Thank you for responding. Due to my work schedule, it took me a couple of days to get back to this. So, I did upgrade to Pro and followed the prompts to update to Woocommerce integration. Please forgive my ignorance as I set up the shop during a period of homelessness and became so overwhelmed with life, I forgot about the store during the quarantine. My life had fallen apart and it took all I had to make it. Now that I am catching up on the shop and am in my upgraded account, I see the mass payments .txt file that shows just under $500 in sales made to Direct. Again, forgive my ignorance for I do not understand how this amount gets paid and from where the almost $500 will be withdrawn from. Thank you again for educating me on this process. Once I learn it, I will relaunch the shop as I see it seems to work.
