Difference between NEW rates page and Manage Afffiliates page

Posted in

Hello,

I went to the new rates page and added an affiliate there with a new referral amount and then went back to the Manage Affiliates page and it was showing something different. Shouldn’t these pages be the same? I’m very confused on how this is to work.

Also I know with the referral rate commission option it tracks commission for a lifetime of subscriber, but what about amount? Like I just want to pay a $60 one-time per sale. I just went into “manage affiliates” and then set referral amount method to nothing and set referral amount to 60.0 . Is this correct? or is this going to track for every re-ocurring order?

These are my two questions.

If you notice the HTML snippet, you can see the image name and dimensions of the image used.
Try using the shortcode like this: [affiliates_banner id="banner_id_goes_here" render="code"]

got it! Yeah I switched it around so we don’t have to reject everytime. It was only one affiliate that was on recurring rate. So it was better to just turn it OFF.

Also I’m trying to look for a shortcode for displaying banner NAME inside the affiliate area for our affiliates. It shows the banners perfectly along with their links, but NOT the banner name. I would like that to show so they can easily see the SIZE .

Since the reoccurrence feature applies for all referrals/ affiliates, you can keep it enabled and for those affiliates you prefer, you may mark the reoccurring referrals as rejected.

    Kind regards,

I have the reocurrence option set so that an affiliate gets commission on each monthly renewal, however on this particular affiliate they only want a fixed dollar amount per sale. They don’t get the re-ocurrence monthly renewal. I set them up to get a $60 fixed amount under “rates”. However, I don’t want them getting $60 every month. How do I make sure that does not happen? The sale/customer will continue to be rebilled monthly, but the affiliate that sent that customer only gets $60 one-time. This is what I’m trying to figure out. Because currently the way I understand it that the affiliate is setup to get $60 every single month as long as the customer is subscribed. I can’t have that.

Yes it will still keep tracking.
If you noticed there is an option to create rates from your existing commission option and methods in Affiliates > Settings under Commissions tab.

The recurrence option is the one I mentioned on my previous comment and is applied site-wide for all your affiliates. It will be enabled or disabled for all your affiliates.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dustin,

Rates feature has been introduced to offer a centralised area for setting rates, among other reasons. There is no reason to set a rate under Affiliates > Manage Affiliates, after all with Rates enabled you only need to set PayPal email and Cookie Expiration attributes per affiliate.

The system supports fixed commission amounts and rates but for simplicity we refer to rate for both options. When you add a new rate and set the Type to amount, the system will grant a fixed amount. In order to track recurring referrals on WooCommerce, you need to have installed WooCommerce Subscriptions and enabled the respective option in Affiliates > WooCommerce integration.
Please note that when you set a commission option it is permanent for the affiliate unless you remove it, whenever the affiliate refers a sale will get the commission.
You can even delete the Referral amount method attribute from the affiliate since you plan to use a referral amount.
I would recommend you to use Rates because in your case you would be able to set different commissions per affiliate with a few clicks. The documentation on Rates has a detailed description on how to use it.

FYI, plugin updates and support are available for 1 year since the date of the original purchase. You can always renew your license for Affiliates Pro with a 50% discount which is applied automatically on checkout.

    Kind regards,
    George

yes I have woocommerce subscriptions enabled as we’ve been operating for awhile now and it is tracking correctly. I just want to make sure that the following happens when I switch to the new rates page/method:

      1) that the commissions will still track since I’ve deleted it off of the manage affiliates page (minus cookie expiration and coupons)

      2) That if I set in “rates page” the fixed amount to a dollar that it will only give the affiliate credit for the first sale and not re-ocurring for a customer. Does this make sense? so technically this would really be just a “per registration or per first order” affiliate commission. No re-ocurring for certain affiliates. This is what I’m trying to read up on and figure out how to setup correctly in the new “rates” page.
