I was able to import all of the groups into Word Press but not their capabilities. Do you have any recommendations?

FYI, Groups Import Export plugin is used to import users with groups and automatically assigns users to the respective groups.
Also, I would recommend to have a look at the new model of restricting access which is based on groups instead of capabilities and has been introduced since version 2.x.x of Groups plugin. We have created a Migration guide in the documentation so that you can easily switch to the new feature introduced.
