Group Files

Can you suggest an easy way to add a field to the group files that I can actually group the files when displaying files for a group. Use case…I have 100 files for each group…. those 100 files are grouped by event. How can I add the grouping field, and can you give me an example snippet like the “list group members” snippet for files so that I can change how the list of files renders…

One Response to Group Files

    Hi Allan,

Try adding subgroups to group your files by event.
For example, let’s say you got:

    first_event_1.txt, first_event_2.txt,…, first_event_50.txt

    second_event_1.txt, second_event_2.txt,…, second_event_50.txt

These files can be accessed by Group A.

Try adding one subgroup per event, all of them with Group A as parent, for example First_event, Second_event.
Then edit each file and add also the subgroup, apart from Group A. So first_event_1.txt will be accessible by Group A and First_event subgroup.
The same way second_event_1.txt will be accessible by Group A and Second_event subgroup.

Finally, in the page where you render your files, use these shortcodes instead:
    [groups_file_link group="First_event"]
    [groups_file_link group="Second_event"]
So, your files will be accessible by all Group A members and will be grouped by event.

    Hope it helps you.

    Kind regards,
    George
