    Hi Eugen,

Thanks for the report. I guess AND logic isn’t suitable to my shop project.

When editing a category or subcategory, the Groups field instructions state: “Restricts the visibility of this Category to members of the chosen groups … Choose one or more groups that are allowed to read this category.” It does not go on to say that a user must be a member of ALL of the assigned groups.

    I’ll find an alternative tool.

    Hi Sevans,

Good morning. I trust the week is unfolding great for you. I was able to get the developers view on the issue and they mentioned; if the test user is a member of one group and the product or categories are restricted to more than one groups then it’s normal to not display the product for that test user. Furthermore, there is a logic AND for the conditions involved and NOT an OR.

Thanks for your resounding patience and I look forward to helping you if you have different worries.

I wish you a great and productive week ahead.

    Kindest regards,
    Eugen.

    Hi Sevans,

    Here’s what I found.

The Envelopes product is restricted for the categories [Agriculture, Bridges & Elevated Highways and Energy], and the test user belongs to the group BCWATAGRI. Hence if you could fix this issue by assigning the BCWATAGRI group to the other categories [Bridges & Elevated Highways and Energy] and your test user should be able to see the product.

I currently have this set up on the test site, please have a look and let me know how it goes.

    Kindest regards,
    Eugen.

      Hi Eugen,

Assigning BCWATAGRI group to the other categories would allow BCWATAGRI members access to categories they are forbidden from accessing. This makes no sense to me.

Groups are assigned to categories so that particular groups of users are restricted to particular categories of products. However some products need to be available many groups of users, and thus appear in many categories or subcategories.

I don’t know how to better describe this problem. Perhaps Groups Restrict Categories is the wrong tool for the job. But I am more likely to believe that there’s a flaw in the code logic. When a product belongs to a few different subcategories, and each of those subcategories is tied to a different group, the product should not restricted to only those users who are members of every group that is tied to the subcategories.

Is there any chance you could run this situation by the author of the addon?

    Hi Sevans,

    Thanks for the prompt response.

Please permit me to verify once more what the issue is. And, I’ll update you as soon as possible.

Thanks, again for understanding and for being patient.

    Kindest regards,
    Eugen.

    Hello Eugen,

Thanks for checking in. Today the product “NOTECARDS & ENVELOPES” was set up for only one subcategory. I have since edited the product to belong to many subcategories. If you attempt to view the Agriculture subcategory again, you will no longer find the product, even though I explicitly set it to be available in that subcategory.

The condition of belonging to multiple subcategories is what leads to product invisibility.

    Hi Sevans,

Good afternoon. And thanks for reaching out again.

I must apologize for the delay.

I was able to get the product (https://woocommerce-273769-849812.cloudwaysapps.com/product/notecards-envelopes) to display for the test user(Jane Doe ).In addition to this, the test user can also find this product listed in the Product Category page for Agriculture (https://woocommerce-273769-849812.cloudwaysapps.com/product-category/sales-literature/agriculture).

Please have a look and let me know. Once again I am super sorry for the delayed response.

Please feel do ping me if there is something else you would like for us to take a look at.

    kindest regards,
    Eugen.
