The site had the Visser Labs Updater plugin activated which interferes with the installation process. With the plugin deactivated everything is working fine.

As @antonio mentioned in this topic there can be several reasons for this error.
Make sure:
1. You have enough space in your server.
2. Your wp-content folder is writable (go to dashboard Appearance->editor and check if you can modify any file)
3. If any security plugins filter the download process. You can try to disable these plugins.
4. To enable debugging to see if there are any error messages showing up in the debug.log when you try to install the integration. When you have logged the error, send debug.log and dashboard admin access to support at itthinx dot com.
