How to pay affiliates?

Posted in

1) Where do we read about how to pay affiliates?
2) The only payment option I see is paypal email. Is this done automatically with payments into their paypal accounts? if so.. when? 1x per month, 1x per week, min amount?
3) And with that 2nd question…. why do they not fill out their paypal email or pref. of pmt when they sign up themselves through affiliate area? Why is this option not available? it would mean we would have to contact them again to get payment info.
4) What other options are their for payment to affiliates? (i.e. check, bank, etc. )

Can you please indicate the link where you saw the excerpt about affiliates automatic payments? In case we are missing something that needs editing.

This mass payment file is compatible with PayPal only. Please follow this PayPal link to see details on PayPal fees.
In general this is the reason why payments are done manually. There are tons of payment services out there, so it is better to let the site owner decide how to make payments and choose the most beneficial service.

Sure thing. Read the first paragraph here: https://woocommerce.com/products/affiliates-pro/

      “Integration with WooCommerce

Affiliates Pro for WooCommerce fully automates affiliate commissions for sales and provides additional WooCommerce-specific options.”

        Hi Dustin,

Thanks for the link, indeed the commissions are fully automated in that they are created and synchronized automatically according to the order status. The payments to the affiliates are handled via the payment file obtained through the Totals section – please note that George is mistaken about one thing here, the payment file format is compatible with PayPal but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it with other payment processors – you can use that file or the other exported file format to process payments in bulk through payment processors that allow you to provide mass payment files.

I do understand that you’re also interested to know whether the system would be capable of handling affiliate payments automatically, e.g. so that they are processed on a monthly basis. We have not integrated such a feature due to a variety of reasons, security concerns included. I’ve outlined my concerns about integrating such facilities on unaudited sites previously – but even so, it could be useful to integrate a way to process payments without the need to use the payment files at some point. Are you interested in any particular processor?

        Cheers

That’s odd, because I read in the excerpt about the plugin that it said affiliates were paid automatically. I’m a bit confused now.

    Hi Dustin,

All payments to affiliates are done manually.
If you have a look at Totals in the documentation, you will see the details on how to use the Affiliates > Totals report. There you can mark affiliates referrals as closed when you complete a payment and also export a Mass Payment File to send the funds to your affiliates simultaneously, through PayPal. This is where the paypal email attribute is used.

    Kind regards,
    George

Also…. what other payment processors can we use that will accept this file type? Do I need to use DWOLLA or some tool like that? As we have some that just want a eCheck deposited into their bank account. I’m trying to figure out how we do this? Or do we do this through a quickbooks program? I guess I’m not fully clear on our options here if we don’t use paypal (paypal takes fees from our affiliates no? )
