Issue with Events Manager when using cupons

Posted in

Hi George!

It´s great, that the event is listed now in the transaction table. Many thanks for this! 🙂

But there is an issue now (I don´t think it was with the old version) when using a cupon!!!

In this case the partner isn´t listed in the table and when going to the detail, it always stands on the first partner in the dropdown menue, no matter which partner created the refferal. Also it is not added to the partner by amount or it´s counted for him as long as You dont´t make any changes in the details.

And the refferal amount is calculated wrong, but I can´t comprehend what´s calculated.

I add a screenshot. The 4 bookings on top are made by the partner “Test Tester”, which has a refferal rate of 0.10.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/u7k4dx80zpv87lk/Screenshot%202017-11-03%2006.22.52.png?dl=0

The 1st booking (on top of the list) was € 317.00 – cupon € 20.00 = € 297.00
The 2nd booking was 1 ticket € 237 and 1 ticket € 317, total € 554 – cupon € 20.00 = € 534
The 3rd was € 317 (no cupon), calculation is correct € 31.70
The 4th was 1 ticket € 317 and 2 ticket € 237, total € 791 – cupon € 20.00 = € 771

I have the same issue on my staging site!

Many thanks for Your support!

Best regards
Rudi

    Hi George!

    I use
    – Affiliates Events Manager
    – Events Manager Version 5.8.0.1 (but same behavior with the last 5.7, 5.8 is just a couple auf days on)
    – Events Manager Pro Version 2.5.1
which are the latestest non-beta versions.

As we use individual coding for addons to the tickets an therefore I have a lot of indiviual coding. So I also tested on a different site.

I use refferal rate and th calculated commission is definitely NOT from the discounted price. I.e. Ticket € 100,- cupon € 13,- (Booking price € 87,-) refferal rate 0.1 —-> calculated commission € 10,- !!!

    Best regards
    Rudi

Your admin access on my staging site https://demo.funkzeugnis.info/ is still active. Please feel free to have a look into this site!

    Hi Rudolf,

    That’s great!

Regarding coupons, the booking price used for commission calculations, is the discounted price. This actually was one of the main additions to version 2.1.0 of Affiliates Events Manager integration.

Which version of Events Manager and Events Manager Pro do you currently use? It is possible that you use a more recent version than i do, which has changes i’m not aware of.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi George,

it works now without issues. Many thanks!

I have seen, that the base for the calculation of the refferal amount is the ticket price and not the reduced price when using a cupon.
I.e. when I have an event, ticket price € 100,- and a cupon is € 50,- and I use a referral rate of 0.1 (10%), the refferal amount is € 10,- and not € 5,- – is there any possibility to use the price reduced by the cupon for calculation?

By the way, it also wouldn´t be good for me, if the booking total price would be used for the calculation, because we also add some options like exma fee, and for this we don´t pay commission to our affiliates.

And – maybe You remember – I also use the Gravity Forms Extension on the same site. With Gravity Coupons the refferals are not granted even I add the cupon as an attribute.

    Many thanks for Your help!

    Cheers

    Hi Rudolf,

Thanks a lot for your feedback and cooperation.

Yes exactly, the coupon will work both ways.
If the coupon is not an affiliate attribute it will just make a discount to the customer.
If the coupon is an affiliate attribute, it will make a discount and also grant a referral to the respective affiliate.

These will be included in the next version of Affiliates Events Manager integration.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George,

if I enter the attribute for the code on affiliate site, all works as it should.

But I promote cupons by myself, and when a customer makes a booking, coming by an anffiliate link, and using a cupon (only in EM, not as attribute)., thiscreates an entry in the refferals, but not credited to an affiliate and wrong calculation.

Do I understand right, that this also should work as soon as I uptade? I am on version 2.18.1. now.

    Many thanks for Your patience!

    Best regrads

    Hi Rudolf,

    In general,
If the coupon is promoted only as a discount offer on your events’ bookings, then you don’t have to attribute an affiliate with that coupon code.
If you give your affiliates discount coupons for your events’ bookings, so that they promote themselves and new referrals easier, then the coupon code should also be attributed to the respective affiliate.

As soon as the updated plugin is released, you will be prompted in your Dashboard to update.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi George,

it is necessary to enter the cupon in both,Events Manager and Affiliates Pro plugin. Otherwise EM doesn´t accept the cupon. If so, all is working fine.

But we give out “general” cupons, and when the customer comes by an afiliate link, there is no refferal credited.

    Cheers

    Hi Rudolf,

    Thanks for mentioning again.
I’ve updated the commission amounts when a coupon is involved in a booking.

In general, a new booking will grant a referral to the partner that owns the coupon. For example, the coupon with code ‘george’ should be present in Events > Coupon Manager and Affiliates > Manage Affiliates, as an attribute for the affiliate we prefer. In your installation, does the coupon exist in both Events Manager and Affiliates Pro plugin?
If the coupon code exists in both plugin settings, do you get anything logged in your debug.log when trying to add a booking for that coupon?

FYI, current version of Affiliates Pro is 2.18.1.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi George,

    many thanks for investigating! 🙂
But it´s not only that the cupon isn´t taken into account. also the refferal isn´t created (into the right partner) and the calculation of the refferal rate is wrong.

    Cheers

    Indeed you are right Rudolf.
The discount of the coupon itself is not taken into account.

I will check and fix this issue and once the plugin is updated, you will be prompted to update through your Dashboard.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi George,

I mean the cupons used by Events Manager. They cause this issue. They should reduce the booking price.

And as I don´t use tax, so this is the booking price without tax! In the case, the price is reduced bey EM, the calculation or the refferal ammount is totally wrong.

    Best regards
    Rudi

    Hi Rudolf,

Many thanks for the feedback, i’m glad you enjoy the new feature!

Regarding coupons, please have a look at the coupons used and the affiliates involved. In order for a referral to be recorded for a specific coupon, that coupon should be assigned as an attribute for that affiliate. If a customer makes a booking with the coupon ‘george20’ the coupon code must also exist as attribute for affiliate George.

Regarding the referral amount, the plugin calculates the commission based on the booking price before taxes, so i would recommend you to have a look at the booking prices without taxes applied.

Please let me know if the above help you work out the issue.

    Kind regards,
    George
