Not sending confirmation email and clairification questions

Posted in

Hello. We purchased the Affiliates Pro Woo Commerce version and are having a little difficulty with getting it to work.

1. We do not want affiliates to be able to register themselves online. We will enter the affiliate information. However, we would still like our affiliates to be able to login to see their stats. I’ve created a couple test affiliates so far with my email, however, I’m not getting any kind of notification … so how can we set up these affiliates with passwords if we’re not using the standard registration form?

I did find one support thread where someone wasn’t getting confirmation emails from the registration form. I’ve tested that and we DO receive emails from the form, but we don’t want the form on the website, we just want to enter the affiliates in the admin.

2. This question has to do with the amount that we’re paying the affiliates for the sale of a product. The documentation is a bit confusing on this and doesn’t seem to clearly state how to do it. I see under Settings that there seems to be a way to set up a Default Referral Amount calculation. We only have 1 product and we want to pay each Affiliate $40. So is it correct to use “Referral Amount” and then 40.00 here? It seems like you can also set up referral amounts on the product page but that was even more confusing. Do we have to “enable product referral rates” in the WooCommerce Integration before those will show up on the Product Data > Virtual/Affiliate Product area? Then does that override the one set in the Settings are?

3. Is Pay Pal the only way to pay affiliates? If so, the email that we sign up an affiliate with therefore has to also be their Pay Pal email, correct?

Thanks

      Hi,
please try “Notify when a referral is Pending” on Affiliates->Notifications to rule out problems with the mail server. And be sure your referral default status is pending or accepted (on Affliiates->Options).
      cheers

    I have enabled Enable notifications

Notifications will only be sent if this option is activated.

I am still not receiving admin or user emails

Great, thank you. The last thing we noticed is that “pretty” URL links as shown in the admin area do not work. Here is an example:

    http://bodyarcher.com?affiliates=5 (works)

    http://bodyarcher.com/affiliates/5 (404)

    Thanks

Okay thanks. Since this also used the main WordPress user function, can we add a link for “forgot password” under the main Affiliate login form? I noticed it doesn’t have one by default and since the system is generating complicated passwords for people, they will more than likely forget at some point.

    Thanks

      Hi,
you can edit it in your affiliate-page, for example:
      [affiliates_is_not_affiliate]
Please log in to access the affiliate area.
      [affiliates_login_redirect]
      <a href="http://www.yourdomain.com/my-account/lost-password/" rel="nofollow">Lost your password?</a>
If you are not an affiliate, you can join the affiliate program here:
      [affiliates_registration]
      [/affiliates_is_not_affiliate]

      cheers

    Hi Antonio,

On 1, you say we must create the User – do you mean a regular WordPress user? That doesn’t make sense since the login for the Affiliate program is different. When we manually enter an Affiliate, we put in their user name and email. We do have notifications turned on, so does that mean that the system will send that person their log in even if we manually enter them?

    Thanks,
    JVM

      Hi,
“notifications” are sent when an affiliate receives a referral.
Affiliates registration form creates a wordpress user, an affiliate, and creates their relationship.
When you create an affiliate manually, only create the affiliate, if user was not created.
You access to affiliate-area with your wordpress user info (only if this user is an affiliate too).
So if you want create a new affiliate manually that he can access from frontend, you need create the wordpress user (user will receive the password), and create an affiliate to this user.
      cheers

    Hi,
1.- You must create the user (if not exists), then create the affiliate manually (input the affiliate name and the username). In this case, user receives wordpress login email (with the password). If you have enabled Affiliates->Notifications, when the user receives a referral, he was emailed.
2.- In your case, you must use in Settings -> “Referral Amount” and set 40.00. “Enable product referral rates” id used when you have a default rate, but you need for some product specific rates (it’s not your case).
3.- “Paypal Mass Payment File” uses user’s email as Paypal email. This generates a file that you can use in Paypal for mass payment, but you can pay manually the user with another systems.
    cheers
