Passing Affiliates Referral Code to another website

Tags

We need to ability to pass the affiliate code in a URL that links to another site/domain for further tracking.

I’ve reviewed the documentation, and I see the shortcodes, but I’m still a bit confused. For example: our website is www.example.com and we want to pass the affiliate code in a url to: “www.example2.com/?rc=123456” Is this possible?

The URL must point to the domain where the affiliate program is running so that the system can recognize referrals. If you have it pointing to example2.com and nothing* on that domain is able to recognize the affiliate link, then it won’t be able to attribute the commission on a purchase made on example.com

    * You could have a script on example2.com which passes on the affiliate ID to another script on example.com which in turn uses the Affiliates plugin API to recognize the hit.
