Permanent Affiliates and Tiers

I currently have a tiered setup in my site and I am trying to allow new affiliates to be linked to exiting affiliates when they sign up. Will this plugin do this?

Just to be clear:

1. A person visits the site using an affiliate link for “Affiliate A”, who is an affiliates in the system
2. Person signs up as “Affiliate B”
3. In Affiliate B’s affiliate profile the “Referrer” is set to be Affiliate A

When I installed the plugin and tried it out I see that an affiliate profile was not created. Instead, a user profile was created with “Permanent Affiliate” field. I am assuming that this is not the same thing.

    Hi Adam,

Please let me rephrase in case my previous reply wasn’t clear enough.

Regarding Affiliates Permanent, once a new customer is referred he will be assigned to the referring affiliate permanently. All customer’s future purchases will grant a commission to the permanent affiliate.

Regarding Affiliates Tiers, once a new affiliate registers on your system he will belong to the tree of the referring affiliate.
For example, affiliate Bob refers new affiliate Jim. Whenever Jim refers a new sale, Jim will get a commission on the sale and Bob will get a tiered commission as Jim’s referrer.

If you like to create affiliates tiered networks, then you only need Affiliates Enterprise. If at the moment new affiliates are not automatically added under their referring affiliates, then there is probably an issue on site, but you should update to the latest version, 4.0.1 because your current version is outdated.

If the above description for Affiliates Permanent doesn’t apply to your case, then you can ask for a refund for this order.

    Kind regards,
    George

Thanks George. I know my support for the Affiliates Entrprise has run out but purchased this plugin this week and I am writing in regards to the plugin. It does not do what I want it to do – how do I get a refund?

Also, I have a pre-sale question about 4.0. Will it allow me to do what I want it to do? I read the article and it appears to be more slanted towards sales than registrations.

Thanks George – I actually did register through the affiliate creation form. So Permananet Affiliates won’t achieve what I want it to do (have a new affiliate automatically detect that a referring affiliate is their referrer in a tiered system)? If not, will 4.0?

    Hi Adam,

Indeed this is not the same thing, Affiliates Permanent creates permanent relations between a customer and an affiliate, while Affiliates tiers creates a network of affiliates.
I suspect that Affiliate B in your case didn’t register as affiliate through the affiliates registration form, but registered as a user instead. Also, make sure that Affiliate B is an active affiliate through Affiliates > Manage Affiliates, use the filters to display inactive affiliates and check the specific record. An interesting read for Affiliates Tiers can be found here.

FYI, it seems that your Affiliates Enterprise license has expired. I would recommend you to renew your subscription and also update to the latest version 4.0.0 which has introduced a lot of new features.

    Kind regards,
    George
