Referrals registered but no sale was made

Posted in

Our affiliate pro plugin just went live, and it triggered 7 referrals the first day… however no sales were made that day. What did trigger those referrals, and how to avoid this? Sales amount are written as 1$, but we don’t even have any 1$ items in our store.

    Hi,
    1) Two rates:
    – one at 0.09, type: rate, integration: Woocommerce
    – one at 1, type: amount, integration: pay per click

    Pay per click has been otherwise configured as 1$ per 5 clicks
    There were 21 clicks registered that day.

    2) User registration integration not enabled
    3) Yes, we’re using the woocommerce integration
    4) Post column is totally empty. Affiliate “9” is credited with all the referrals.

    Thanks!

      Hello,
      Thank you very much for providing all the detail!
      It sounds like the referrals are coming through the Pay Per Click integration. You can confirm that by going to Affiliates > Referrals and clicking the Edit button next to the referrals in question. In the next screen, there should be a Description field that most likely says Pay Per Click. Here you can find a screenshot that illustrates the two steps: https://pasteboard.co/Irqh68x.png
      Are you aiming at a particular behavior by having a different rate for the Pay Per Click integration? Normally, you wouldn’t need to set a specific rate for the integration from Affiliates > Rates, especially since in your case you have the same amount ($1) specified for both. You can create a rate for an individual Affiliate, e.g., if you wanted Affiliate X to receive $2 per 5 clicks, while all others get the default (in your case, $1 per 5 clicks), but otherwise the settings under Affiliates > Pay Per Click should be enough.
      Cheers,
      Denitsa

        Ahah. No rate needed in case pay per click already defined in the pay per click menu? Ah. Well I guess that’s it. I’ve deleted the pay per click rate, let’s see how it goes, but I have a feeling it should be fixed.

        Thanks!

          Hey there,
          You’re most welcome 馃檪
          Yes, the rate defined under Affiliates > Pay per Click is enough, no need to set a separate rate, unless you’d like to target a specific affiliate, as mentioned in my previous post. Do let me know if the issue persists though, I’d be happy to take a further look if needed.
          Cheers,
          Denitsa

    Hello,
    Sorry to hear the plugin’s giving you troubles!
    I have a couple of questions to clarify the situation:
    1) What rates have you set under Affiliates > Rates?
    2) Do you have the User Registration Integration enabled under Affiliates > User Registration?
    3) Are you using the WooCommerce Integration?
    4) When you go to Affiliates > Referrals, what do you see under the Post column and which Affiliate is credited with the referrals?
    Additionally, would you enable logging by editing your wp-config.php file, found in the root directory of your WordPress installation, by adding the following lines to it:
    define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
    define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
    define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false )
    ;
    Then, a debug.log file should be created and found under the /wp-content folder. There might be some errors or warnings there that might point us in the direction of the cause of the problem.
    Cheers,
    Denitsa
