Several questions for support

Thanks for the help. Very appreciated.

1. Is there any test data ? I notice that I would need to use a new computer each time I make a new affiliate. Great for real action. But I don’t have half a dozen computers to set up new test affiliates how do I make sure that my commissions are working right and everything gets set up like the planned system?

2. Also (I presume this might become more obvious when the action actually begins and I have affiliates listed) how do I change /edit the affiliates level and who they are under(I am working with tiers) if needed?

Thanks.
David

Can you please get back to me promptly as I have a big big meeting on this tomorrow and it has taken ages to get to this (still ambiguous) point. If I cannot present that Affiliates Enterprise has the potential to do what we need, they will drop it and all other potential future licenses.
In which case, will I be able to get my money back? As I backed you and believed and paid for the license myself. (But all I need is to get the proper answer to my question. And I have tried and tried. Please read the question properly and please help with the right answer.)
    thanks
    David

      From the beginning:
      1. Is there any test data ? I notice that I would need to use a new computer each time I make a new affiliate. Great for real action. But I don’t have half a dozen computers to set up new test affiliates how do I make sure that my commissions are working right and everything gets set up like the planned system?
You can clean the cookies and/or use another affiliate’s link (in Affiliates->Manage affiliates you can see the links).
      2. Also (I presume this might become more obvious when the action actually begins and I have affiliates listed) how do I change /edit the affiliates level and who they are under(I am working with tiers) if needed?
If you need to change who referred the affiliateA, in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates edit the AffiliateA. In this edit page the levels field are only used if you need to set custom values to this affiliate.
      cheers

Thank you for getting closer to the answer to my question. But you still did not answer what actual numbers to put in the boxes. So your reply still is ambiguous. Please confirm that (as you said):”If you need e.g. that John (John is an affiliate) as a custom commission to 50% and his childs 30% and his level2 10%, then you can use John’ fields and attribute to set these custom values.”
Does that mean that (in your new example) I would set the Rate boxes in John to be level 1 = 0.5 , level 2= .03 and level 3 = 0.1 ?

Could you please please please answer my actual question in the terms that I am asking it and not in principles (as saying principles does not help confirm the actual number that I need to put into the software). (So, please just correct my maths as a teacher would in an exam and put the correct answers if I am not correct. As I have no idea from your answers if I am right or wrong.)

    Thanks,
    David

      Hi,
      your example:
Assuming 30% for normal referrals and these rates for Level 1: 20%, Level 2: 5%, for an order of 100$, affiliate A gets a 30$ referral, affiliate B is credited with $20 and affiliate C gets $

      – Affiliates->Settings: ‘Referral rate’ as ‘Default referral calculation’, and 0.30 as ‘Default referral calculation value’
      – Affiliates->Tiers: Checked ‘Enable multi-tiered referrals’
      Levels = 2
      Level 1 = 0.20
      Level 2 = 0.05
NOT checked ‘Level rates are relative’

When you edit an affiliate in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates, keep empty the levels field.

      cheers

    Hi Antonio,

Can you please check that i have understood the application of the enterprise tiers and been able to apply your example correctly?

(Please see that your documentation needs more description as the example does not tell you exactly what to put in what boxes of the affiliates commission rates )

    Thank you,
    David Miers

Answered, thanks for the suggestion about the documentation, we’ll check.

    So Antonio,

If I use the second option that you said (overide the default Referral rate – which i presume is the one in Affiliates> settings [and not affiliates >manage affiliates like you said])
    then
would my answer be correct to your example -as I have requested above and repeated below-?

If not please (as I keep asking) could you tell me how each of the boxes for each of the affiliates should be set up. Thanks. {Because your documention is not so hot to make it all clear}.

    All the best
    David

    Please check if I am correct with that example set out bleow; C has .05 in his level 3 box. B has .2 in his level 2 box and A has .30 in his level 1 box;

(How tier levels work: Affiliate B has referred affiliate A.
When affiliate A is credited with a referral, so is affiliate B at the commission rate set for Level 1.
If affiliate B was referred by affiliate C and a rate is set for Level 2, affiliate C will also be credited with a referral at the rate for that level.
    Example:
Assuming 30% for normal referrals and these rates for Level 1: 20%, Level 2: 5%, for an order of 100$, affiliate A gets a 30$ referral, affiliate B is credited with $20 and affiliate C gets $5

    • antonio February 25, 2015 at 8:53 am #

      Hi,
in your case: “Assuming 30% for normal referrals and these rates for Level 1: 20%, Level 2: 5%, for an order of 100$, affiliate A gets a 30$ referral, affiliate B is credited with $20 and affiliate C gets $5”
      You settings (as @itthinx said):
Affiliates > Settings – referral rate 0.3 for 30% commissions
      Affiliates > Tiers – Level 1 at 0.2 (20%), Level 2 at 0.05 (5%)
Leave empty the fields in the affiliates edit page.
If you need e.g. that John (John is an affiliate) as a custom commission to 50% and his childs 30% and his level2 10%, then you can use John’ fields and attribute to set these custom values.
I hope this example can help you. If not you can send us dashboard admin access to support at itthinx dot com (indicating this topic) and your requirements and we’ll have a look to your settings.
      cheers

    Hi Kento,

Surely there must be some better documentation on this rather than asking you all these back and forth questions?

    David

    • antonio February 23, 2015 at 5:07 pm #

      Hi,
you have a documentation section. Normally the questions are solved in topics and comments to share with the community.
      cheers

  6. david February 22, 2015 at 8:26 am #

Thanks, Kento. You potentially cleared up one point but left me with still confusion: Q1: Does the Affiliates > Setting > Referral rate apply then to every sale? Or can we set different rates to apply depending on who referred the sale?
Q2: The extra confusing part in your answer: each affiliate has a list of boxes for different levels to put in commissions. Do they serve no purpose ? (because the commission rates are set by ‘Affilates> settings’ and ‘Affiliates> tiers’ , as you said above?
    Thanks,
    David

      Hi,
@itthinx explains how to set the default values.
Q1: If you edit an affiliate in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates, and add the ‘Referral rate’ attribute then this value is applied to this affiliate.
Q2: If you set a value in the edit affiliates page (in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates), then this value override the default value for this affiliate.
      cheers

  7. david February 19, 2015 at 8:35 pm #

I hope that I now get it; Please check if I am correct with that example; C has .05 in his level 3 box. B has .2 in his level 2 box and A has .30 in his level 1 box

    • kento February 21, 2015 at 12:50 pm #

      Hi David,

Not exactly, the setup would be as in my previous comment, you would not have a Level 3 rate as you only credit up to second level downline.

      Cheers

    Hi Kento,

To explain my confusion: What commission rate goes in what boxes (under which affiliate’s rate list) in that above example? The example does not give the full explanation of the answer so I know how the software thinks.
Can you please give me more so I can make sure I have it correct.

    Thanks,
    David Miers

  9. david February 19, 2015 at 11:57 am #

    Hi Kento,

Please ignore the above question; I found out how to add affiliates without needing a new computer.Sorry about that.

BUT I am so confused to how the tiers system thinks. Do you have more examples to the set up like the one on the Manage affiliates page. (See below.) So I can cross-reference them and get the jargon and logic correct.

So is there more documentation on the multi-tiers or at least some more examples like below?
    Thanks,
    David

ANY MORE EXAMPLES LIKE THIS ONE PLEASE?: (How tier levels work: Affiliate B has referred affiliate A.
When affiliate A is credited with a referral, so is affiliate B at the commission rate set for Level 1.
If affiliate B was referred by affiliate C and a rate is set for Level 2, affiliate C will also be credited with a referral at the rate for that level.
    Example:
Assuming 30% for normal referrals and these rates for Level 1: 20%, Level 2: 5%, for an order of 100$, affiliate A gets a 30$ referral, affiliate B is credited with $20 and affiliate C gets $

    • kento February 21, 2015 at 12:49 pm #

      Hi David,

Thanks for the update on that, I’m glad you figured that out 😉

Regarding the tiers, let’s assume the following setup:

Affiliates > Settings – referral rate 0.3 for 30% commissions
      Affiliates > Tiers – Level 1 at 0.2 (20%), Level 2 at 0.05 (5%)

      Affiliate A referred B and B referred C : A > B > C

      If C refers a $100 net order, C gets $30, B gets $20 and C get $5

I’ve seen your additional comments and will check them, too but I think this is what you’re looking for.

      Cheers

    Hi David,

#2 This would be an appropriate configuration if your general scheme can be described as follows:

    a) purchases by customers always grant commissions to the partner who has initially referred the customer
    b) all related partners should be credited with commissions at given rates

Affiliates Permanent would take care of the assignment necessary for a).
Affiliates Enterprise can be set up to reflect the commission structure in b).

I assume that you would set up the tier relations manually for b).

#3 Yes they can use the banners in emails.

Please let me know if the above helps or you need further guidance on how this would be set up.

    Cheers
