Test sale not recorded as a referral

While in the past I have had sales recorded in my Affiliates dashboard, something has now gone wrong. I am gearing up for a campaign with an important new affiliate and so created two Test affiliates to check all was working but both have only recorded the hits without registering the sales made!

Can you help me sort this?

    In the meantime, make a new button on Paypal and place it as a third button on Test page please.

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for providing access.

    I’ve tried with my sandbox account and everything worked as expected. I’ve conducted the tests using the page titled “Test page”.
    Please double check your PayPal IPN url and that Message delivery option is enabled for that IPN url.
    Your Affiliates PayPal plugin uses your account again, so now i would like you to try the second PayPal button i’ve added on the “Test page” and let me know the results. Please make sure that you use an affiliate link from an active affiliate, perhaps my affiliate link.

      Hi George,

      I have made a test sale using the ‘normal paypal button’ that you put on the ‘Test page’. I regret that it has not shown as a referral to your affiliate!

      I have screen shots of the message sent by PayPal if you want to see if that is functioning correctly. Where can I send it to?

    I think it’s better if i have a look on you site.
    Please send me temp admin access to george at itthinx dot com.
    I will test your installation with my sandbox account.
    Also, enable debugging with the following procedure:
    Edit your wp-config file and replace the following line:
    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    with these lines:
    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

    Finally create a new file named debug.log under your wp-content folder.

    Hi Nick,

    Then you should check that the correct IPN url is stored in your PayPal account.
    The IPN url can be found under Affiliates > PayPal.
    If you recently added an SSL certificate for your domain, the https option should be checked and the IPN url would begin with “https” instead of “http”. The IPN response in this case would fail because these would be two different urls.
    Also check if you just in case switched to sandbox account by mistake.
    These would result in a failed response from PayPal and no referral recorded.

      Yes the IPN url is correct with “https” at the beginning both inside PayPal and in the Affiliates plugin on my site.

    Hi Nick,

    Please have a look at our Troubleshooting section. If you are using a caching plugin, this might be blocking referrals.

    Also, check that you have installed the proper integration. For example, in order to track referrals for sales in WooCommerce, the Affiliates WooCommerce integration should be installed and activated. All the available integrations can be found in your Dashboard under Affiliates > Settings, Integrations tab.

    If you have installed Affiliates Permanent, check the configuration guide in the documentation page as well.

      Hi George,

      I don’t have a caching plugin installed and I am only using the PayPal integration and NOT WooCommerce.

      Any ideas, as I need this up and running by tomorrow so am tearing my hair out!
