I am a lot further down the track now, but I cannot assign forums (or anything else) to a group.
The administrator login has access to:
delete_others_posts
edit_files
edit_forums
edit_others_forums
edit_others_posts
edit_pages
edit_posts
edit_private_posts
edit_users
groups_access
groups_admin_groups
publish_forums

However I still cannot access the group assignment panel within Groups backend…

I suspect that BBPress has messed up the groups, so i reloaded but there are still two sets of groups on the user page and I don’t know how to fix it so I can trial this and then buy the plugins required (Which I still don’t know which ones I will need)
