I am having trouble with members logged in, with the correct group permissions, not being able to access documents for the groups that they are members of. We are using Groups version 3.9.0 and Group File Access version 2.0.0, among other plugins. The documents are available as links generated by group file access in a page behind the member login.

As it seems, your version of Groups File Access is pretty outdated.
Please update to the latest version, 3.1.0, and then check again if the issue described in your ticket persists.
In case your license has expired, then you may proceed and renew it, by purchasing the plugin again, in order to get access to updates and support.
