Upsell and s2member

Once a user is in the system, I would like to offer an upsell using either s2member pro form or s2member paypal form. How do I make sure the current user is coded to the previous affiliate during the upsell process?

Example. I signed up Tim for $47month but Tim decides to upgrade to $147 package to get advanced training. Do I get the recurring affiliate commission on Tim since Tim is coded to me from the first sign up??

So it turns out that the previous subscription does not get cancelled and Paypal creates a new one using Paypal Forms. So I have to manually cancel the 1st subscription and also credit the original affiliate because it hasn’t been credited. Please tell me there’s a simpler way?

I have had members use the regular paypal form (non pro) and it turns out that they don’t get upgraded in the system but they do get charged on their recurring fees. So this doesn’t work either. Please advise.

I think this is related to the way s2 handles this and also depends on the payment processor. I would advise to ask them to see if they can point you in the right direction.

So if someone upgrades to another s2level, say from $97 to $147, what happens to the upfront and recurring fees since the affiliate is already getting paid to this. Will the subscription cancel and create a new one or will it apply the difference and still give credit to the the affiliate.

For example unpaid $97 yesterday for level 2
I upgraded to level 3 and it’s $147 a month. Will it handle the difference and only charge $147-$97= $50?

This really depends on how s2 handles it, if it’s the same subscription that has been updated, then the referrals are based on the very same on should continue based on the settings. If it’s a new one, then the normal affiliate workflow would apply, i.e. it would be granting referrals if the new subscription was referred.

That’s a good question. It depends on the settings and how you want it to be handled in general.

With the s2 integration, subscriptions are related to the referring affiliate. Basically you can trace the original referrer back based on that and use it for the upsell. But this is not part of the integration so it would have to be custom-coded.
