When I test register a user, it says ERROR: This email is already registered, please choose another one.

Hi, I am testing Affiliate Enterprise.

1a) Whenever I register someone using the /affiliate-area page, I fill out the info with a new email address, hit submit and I get:

ERROR: This email is already registered, please choose another one.

I can see after hitting submit that the new email address is added as a user, but a person registering should not be told this

Under Settings>Registration I do have the box checked Allow Affiliate Registration and status is set to Active

1b) I also created a new page and used the shortcode [affiliates_registration /] to see if it was a problem with the auto generated page, and I get not only the above error but also:

ERROR: This username is already registered, please choose another one.

This was using yet another new email address and again I can see it got added as a user.

**Note although added as a user, it does not show up in the list for Manage Affiliates page

1c) Please advise on where I set what page a person goes to after registration.

2) Additionally, I have Enable registration emails checked, and no email goes to the newly registered email addresses.

Thanks,
Aimee

PS. I will also note I have deactivated all plugins except Affiliate Enterprise, Affiliate Products, Affiliate WooCommerce Integration, and Woocommerce and still have same problem.

    Hi Aimee,

I think it is better for me to have a look in your Dashboard.
Please take a full backup of your site files and database and then send me your admin credentials to george at itthinx dot com.

    Kind regards,
    George

No, I’m not using a name/email that already exists. I specifically mentioned in my post that I am testing using a new email. This is a new site and so we have very few users, it’s easy to keep track of. When I do enter a new email address, they are added as a user when there were not a user before, but i get those error messages.

    Hi Aimee,

It seems that you are trying to register a user who already exists.
If these credentials have already been used by one of your users under your Dashboard > Users then the error messages are normal.
This happens because whenever you use the affiliate registration form, there are two records created. A user record and an affiliate record which is connected to that user.
If you want to make your existing users, affiliates then you should go to Affiliates > Manage Affiliates and press New Affiliate button. There you should input a name and a username of the existing user.

To sum up, when someone registers as a user in your site, that user doesn’t exist as an affiliate. On the other hand, when a new affiliate registers through the registration form, a user record is also created.

    Hope it helps you.

    Kind regards,
    George
