Incompatibility with The Events Calendar plugin

hi guys,

I just bought your plugin for Gravity Forms.

If I activate Groups and Groups Gravity Forms the pages of my site that use The Events Calendar, lose the header.

I use Avada.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Raquel.

      I didn’t know that!

    Hi Raquel,

If you are referring to this: https://imgur.com/v4EmaKW
then from what I’ve found too in the plugin support, it shouldn’t appear if the organizer is not set.
However, and since you’re also using custom templates for the events, then IMO this is the best place to look at before checking other custom code you are using before reaching Events Calendar support. This part is obviously way to deep to have been affected by my own test session on your site.

I’ll proceed with my tests with Groups and let you know once I have an update.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George:

      Thank you for your message!

I perfectly understand what you’re saying and I’m going to follow your advice, the only problem is that I don’t really know what you mean by “IMO”, please, can you tell me what it is so I can take a look.

      Kind regards,
      Raquel

    Hi Raquel,

Thanks for sending the site files, I’m downloading them locally.

As for my test session it included, first to identify the issue and secondly looking for any possible restrictions applied to the header template. If you can share what exactly is this Organizer and where I can see it, I’ll definitely have a look.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George:

Thank you very much for the information!

You can see the “Organizer” by opening an individual event in the frontend. There you will see that word as the title of that information. Since the information does not exist, the title should not be displayed, and in fact it did not before, but now it has suddenly appeared and has caused the map to be displayed in a column to the right instead of being displayed below.

      Kind regards,
      Raquel.

    Hi Raquel,

I’m assuming that you edited the comment afterwards because it seems that you added more details in it, so let me cover your questions atm.

Motivated by your layout, I chose to create a custom header to see if it is empty or not when Groups is activated, but as I demonstrated here it appears normally.

As I mentioned we can still offer to replicate your site locally, the most probable reason behind this empty header is a conflict. However, if you are not satisfied with my suggestion or changed your mind then we can definitely make an exception for your case and issue a refund. Otherwise, you may send the site files and database to george at itthinx dot com, which is my personal address.

Regarding the large text “Organizer” probably this wasn’t me because we always avoid editing content of any kind while reviewing a customer’s website. But still I can have a look and help you fix that as well.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George!

The “organizer” issue is driving me crazy, I don’t know what it does there or how it got there, it doesn’t make sense for it to be displayed if the event doesn’t have that data, and suddenly it appears out of nowhere in all the events! It is clear that it has nothing to do with the content.

And that is why I was asking you, if you had made any changes in any configuration that has to do with that because it is a very strange and sudden thing and it may be very easy to remove it.

Since I didn’t touch any of the events that day (so as not to interfere with your work) and I focused on translating content, I thought maybe it was due to some change that you had made to test something and it would have been forgotten there. I really appreciate your offer to take a look, please tell me if you’re going to do it or not so I can get back into it. I wait for you to tell me something.

I have no problem with your plugin, in fact I already use it for another client, but in this project if it can’t coexist with the events plugin I won’t be able to use it and therefore I can’t make the client pay for it, that’s why I would like everything to work and I am going to make a backup of the web and try to send it to you by wetransfer or something to see if you can find out what the conflict is.

      Kind regards,
      Raquel.

      Hello George:

I thought I had answered you yesterday but seeing that I did not receive an answer I went to the blog and it seems that the message was not registered.

It said I don’t know what could be going on, I have no idea, I always try to use widely used plugins to avoid this type of problem and I also try not to do anything special that might cause problems.

I have no problem sending you the web so you can see what is happening, but I don’t know how to do it, you tell me.

The website will be published tomorrow and I won’t be able to use your plugin, I don’t know if the client will want to use it later, it all depends on whether the problem is resolved shortly. The client asks me if the money is refunded in case of not being able to use it.

      Thanks in advance!

      Kind regards,
      Raquel.

    Hi Raquel,

I had a thorough look at your Dashboard and everything seems to be normal from this point of view. Even if I switch to the parent theme, the conflict with Groups persists, btw the conflict occurs only when Groups is activated.

Also, for the reason that the header contents disappear only for the Events page, I created a simple layout with Avada on my local installation. For this layout I’ve added a custom header and then after creating a dummy event I’ve visited the Events page on the front-end while Groups was activated. You may see the screen-record I’ve created to demonstrate this test:
    Groups Avada

Even though my installation is not identical to yours, the header container appears properly on my side. However, if the Events template has something special in its setup, then please share the details here, so that I can replicate it, or provide an export that we can use and import it locally. Furthermore, and if the previous option is pointless, we can offer to further test this situation as long as you are able to provide a copy of your site files and database. This way we can replicate the full site locally and check the situation thoroughly.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George,

I don’t know how to see the recording you tell me, I don’t see any link in your message.

We use Avada layouts to build the header and footer. I do not know if that gives you any clue or if you have already seen it when accessing the web administration.

I wanted to ask you something, I have seen that the page of the individual events shows a large text “Organizer” that did not appear before and that makes the information misplaced. Since we were both working on the web yesterday, I don’t know where it comes from, if it was me touching something or if it was you, before I go to solve it, please tell me if you think you could have done something to make that happen, If you don’t remember doing anything to make that happen, don’t worry, okay? It would have been me, just tell me if you remember anything that helps me with that.

I understand that it is going well for you that I send you the entire web (file and database) to be able to look at it locally. How can I send it to you?

      Thanks in advance!

      Kind regards,
      Raquel.

Thanks Raquel, I’m able to login properly and checking your site atm.

    Done!

Please let me know if you have any problems accessing

    Hi Raquel,

You can create the admin account using the email address indicated on my previous comment, it might not even be necessary to share the credentials here.
Even though at the moment we are in a similar timezone, the responses are also affected by our workload, but once you provide access I will have a look as soon as possible.

You are correct, the header container is there but empty, it behaves as if its contents are restricted. However, I think that a closer look will give us more hints on what might be wrong over there.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George:

The site is not in production, we are working on it and we will publish it on Thursday the 16th.

I can give you access to access the WordPress administration. Is it safe if I give it to you using this same communication?

As a result of what you have told me, I have used the Google Chrome developer tools, but what I see is that the header of these pages is empty:

In front of other pages that do show the header and whose content is similar to this:

    [………]

    🙁

    Kind regards,
    Raquel.

      Hi George:

While you answer me, I’m going to disable the plugin so that my client can see the page correctly.

What time slot do you work? I think we are on very different schedules and that makes our mutual responses arrive so late. I work at GTM+1, but I can adapt to your schedule.

      Kind regards,
      Raquel.

    Hi Raquel,

Thanks for the follow-up and for sharing your site links.

The header seems to be there but the container appears to be having a zero height which is also not normal. I think it’s better to have a closer look at this site, if it’s not running live, or at a staging clone. You may create a temp admin account using george at itthinx dot com as the email address.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George:

Now I have activated your plugin so you can see that the header disappears on The Events Calendar pages.

    This happens:
    on the calendar page: https://sandbox.aracaladanza.com/agenda/
and in the case of individual events, such as: https://sandbox.aracaladanza.com/funcion/loop-3/
If I deactivate your plugin the headers appear again.

I don’t see any error related to that in the browser console.

    In wp-config.php I have put:

    // Enable WP_DEBUG mode
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
// Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );

And there is no debug.log file in /wp-content/

If you need access to see what might be happening let me know.

    Kind regards,
    Raquel.

    Hi Raquel,

Thanks for using Groups as your content restriction tool, much appreciated.

Can you please check if there is any related issue logged in debug.log in general or when accessing one of those pages? Do you get any issues in your browser console?

    Kind regards,
    George
