Updating permalinks

Hi there, first up, congrats on the affiliates plugin! Amazing piece of work 🙂

I just bought the affiliates by username plugin, I also changed the affiliate URL parameter name.

CAUTION: If you change this setting and have distributed affiliate links or permalinks, make sure that these are updated.

I feel really stupid for asking this, as I’m sure it’s really straight forward but I’m completely missing it…

How do I update the affiliate links or permalinks already in place?

Thanks so much!

Mike

ok, I might have misunderstood … so it doesn’t mean you need to change the link associated with the user under “manage affiliates” for example… only the links need to be changed on any third party site? Using the shortcodes to change the link still associates it with that individual user?

      Hi,
with the plugin enabled, the affiliates can share their link as: http://www.domain.com/?affiliates=123 or http://www.domain.com/?affiliates=billy
If you want that the users start to share the links with the username, you should change your affiliate-area page, so when they visit the page, they will see the new url with the username instead of the ID. You can do it using the shortcode in the affiliate-area page.
If Billy has links in third party sites with the ID, there is not problem, both work together (ID and username as param).

Relating to change the url param ‘affiliates’ to another param name, ex. ‘sponsor’ ( In Affiliates->Settings:Affiliate URL parameter name) , to have link like: http://www.domain.com/?spondor=billy, then the affiliates need to change their old links shared.
      Kind Regards,
      Antonio B.

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks !!
You should update your affiliate-area page to display the links with the username, using the shortcodes.
Relating to change the affiliate links placed for example in blogs or social media, you can not do it, every affiliate should update their links.
    Kind Regards,
    Antonio B.
