I’m not sure if this just doesn’t really have the feature I want, or if I’m somehow missing the settings to make this work. I have a customer that wants to pay a flat commission on a product, no matter which variation is set and no matter what the final price is. So am I able to enter a fixed (non percentage based) commission amount in the product commission setting, or do I have to do something custom to make that work?

Hi John,
If you want to give each product its own flat amount commission, you can always implement your own custom method for commissions. For this, you can find the API here.
Otherwise, if the commission amount is flat for all your products you can use Referral Amount as the Commission type, under Affiliates > Settings > Commissions.

The issue is that the website owner only wants to pay out a flat commission, even if the price varies. The variations can change the price, but they are looking to only pay a flat fee for a sale of that product. Is there any way for me to go around that logic and force a fixed dollar amount?

Regarding products you can only choose a rate. Still though, you can adjust that rate to fit the amount you want to offer. ie if you want to grant a commission of 10USD when a product is bought that costs 50USD then you can set the rate to 0.2.

Thank you for that reply. I have the main setting for commissions set to Affiliates_WC_method: product rates, but on the individual product, it only allows me to set a percentage as the rate, unless I’m missing something. I just need to know how to set it to a dollar amount, (i.e.$25).

Please have a look in your Dashboard under Affiliates > Settings > Commissions. There you can set the commission to Referral amount. For further info you can have a look at the documentation on Commissions.
