Can’t link Rates to Affiliate

Hi there, so this is my setup:

1) I have WooCommerce set up and working 100%
2) I bought Affiliate Enterprise because I want a two tier system. 10% and 5%

Now, ignoring the 2 tier system for now, I cannot for the life of me get my affiliates to link to a payout. I’ve checked the “debug” code, and the cookie is definitely there. I do the sale, I go back in, look at “Totals” and it shows $0.00

If I go to Manage Referrals I can see the “Referral Rate is 0”.

I’ve followed the instructions word for word on this site but I just cannot get the thing to work.

Please, if anyone can help – I’ll even give u backend access to fix it up … please help!

    Hey Tony you’re welcome.

Actually the amount of rates needed depends on the setup. There are a number of configurations where several different rates are required while even with a single rate, you can give commissions to your affiliates.

    Kind regards,
    George

That’s awesome – thanks so much.

A suggestion – could you maybe put down under the Rates section that you need 3 different rates for this whole thing to work?

    Hi Tony,

    Thanks for the additional info.

In this case you can delete the rate set for level 2 and modify the rate set for level 1 making the rate 0.05. So eventually you will have 2 rates, one would be the general rate equal to 10% and another one for level 1 equal to 5%.

    Kind regards,
    George

Here are the three scenarios to consider:

    Scenario 1:
Jennifer buys $100 worth of goods.
No one referred her – she found the site directly, so no one is paid commission.

    Scenario 2:
Anne buys $100 worth of goods.
She was referred to by Steve, Steve gets 10%
No one referred Steve, so there is no second pay out.

    Scenario 3:
Elizabeth buys $100 worth of goods.
She was referred to by Paul, Paul gets 10%
Paul was referred to the affiliate programme by James, James gets 5%
Kevin referred James, but we only go 15% deep, so Kevin gets nothing.

Scenario 4 (taking from 3 above)
Susan buys $100 worth of goods.
James referred her, so James gets 10%
    Kevin gets 5%

    basically:
    1) no referral, no payout
    2) maximum ever paid out is always 15% and never more.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi Tony,

In Totals you will see all the referrals by default. If you wish to see only accepted, then you should choose the accepted status from the filters which will narrow down the results accordingly.

In your first scenario Paul will get a 10% commission because of rate ID 8, he is not on the first level.
Peter is on level 1 and will get a 10% because of rate ID 6.
Jack is on level 2 and will also get a commission because you have set a rate for level 2, with rate rate ID 7.

In your second scenario Jack will correctly earn 10% because of rate ID 8, he is not on level 1. There is no affiliate on level 1 because none referred Jack.

I think it’s better for you to describe what you would like your affiliates to earn so that I can suggest you what rates to set.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hey Tony,

    Thanks for providing access.

I’ve modified rate ID 7 since you plan to give a 5% commission on level 2 tiers. Also, regarding the referral status change once I changed my test order status to Cancelled, the referral status also changed to Rejected which is normal.

Regarding tiers and their commissions please check the example below to fully comprehend the concept.

Assume that Paul is a registered affiliate on your system.
Paul refers a new affiliate named Peter.
Peter refers a new affiliate named George.

    First case
George refers a new sale and Jane makes a purchase of 100 USD, while Jane is just a customer she doesn’t register as affiliate.

    Based on your rates settings,
George will get a commission based on rate ID 8 aka 10 USD.
Peter will get a tiered commission for level 1 based on rate ID 6 aka 10 USD.
Paul will get a tiered commission for level 2 based on rate ID 7 aka 5 USD.

    Second case
Peter refers a new sale and Jane makes a purchase of 100 USD, while Jane is just a customer she doesn’t register as affiliate.

    Based on your rates settings,
Peter will get a commission based on rate ID 8 aka 10 USD.
Paul will get a tiered commission for level 1 based on rate ID 6 aka 10 USD.
No commission will be granted for level 2 since Paul is not referred by any affiliate.

So basically the rate ID 8 will apply for the referring affiliate of the sale. The rate ID 6 will apply for level 1 aka the referrer of the referring affiliate and the rate with ID 7 will apply for level 2 aka the referrer of the referrer of the referring affiliate.

    Hope it makes sense.

    Kind regards,
    George

      Hi George,

Thanks for the help so far

The problem is that if I go to “TOTALS”, there’s commission due to an affiliate there for $7.60 for Affiliate 8.

      I’ve done the following:
      1) On WooCommerce, marked all sales as “cancelled”
      2) Under “Manage Affiliates” I can see $7.60 “rejected” from the affiliate
      3) But if I go to totals, it still shows $7.60 commission earned (For Affiliate ID8) when it should be $0.00 as his sales were cancelled. If I draw a mass payment file, it shows Affiliate 8 earns $7.60, which he shouldn’t. He should earn nothing – both his sales were cancelled.

      With regards to levels/tiers:

      Jane Buys $100
Paul, who referred Jane, gets $10 (10%)
Peter, who referred Paul, gets $5 (5%)
Jack, who referred Peter, gets nothing because there’s only 2 payout tiers.

      In Scenario 2:

      Jane buys $100
Jack, who referred Jane, earns $10 (10%)
No one referred Jack, so no one earns the 5%

Basically the MAXIMUM commission paid out needs to be 15%

Ooof, I hope these two issues make sense…

    Hi George,

It seems adding the extra Rates have helped.

I did a sale now, and what I see if that the affiliate earned their 10% commission.

However, when I cancel the sale in Woocommerce, it doesn’t remove the 10% comms. Obviously I don’t want to pay for cancelled orders.

I have also created 2 layers:

    Tier 1 = 10%
    Tier 2 = 5%

    From my understanding:

Peter registers as an affiliate. He then introduces Paul as an affiliate. Jane buys something for $100.

The way it should work is:
    Jane pays $100
    Paul earns $10 (level 1)
    Peter earns $5 (level 2)

I have created an admin account for you, if you could please check (website is http://www.catholiccushions.com)

    1) Why the commission is not deducted on the affiliate after order is cancelled – even drawing a payment file shows the comms still due.
    2) That I have set up the plans correctly.

    Thanks soooo much!

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

    Thanks for using Affiliates Enterprise.

FYI and in order for the rates to operate properly you need to set – in this case – at least three different rates. You need to add one rate for the referrals aka when a sale is referred and also one rate with a 0.1 rate choosing level 1 and another one with a 0.05 rate choosing level 2.
The important part here is the first rate for the original referrer which is used to calculate the commission whenever an affiliate refers a new sale.
Furthermore, if not already there you should also install Affiliates WooCommerce integration from your Dashboard under Affiliates > Settings, go to Integrations tab and install it.

If you need further assistance on this you may send me temp admin access to george at itthinx dot com and I can set up some example rates for you.

    Kind regards,
    George
