Our “Affiliate” link takes a referral to our Home page; How do we Change?

Hi, right now the “Affiliate” link takes a referral to the Home page of our company’s main website. We want to be able to redirect that link to the “Shop” page without losing the affiliate link code in the URL. Currently, If we click on the affiliate link it takes us to the Homepage. Then when we click any other page on the website i.e. “Shop page” or “About Us page”, the URL changes to the original site URLs, and appears to lose the affiliate coding that was originally showing on the Home Page.
Q.1: Would the affiliate loose the referral, once the referral clicks on a different Page inside the website, away from the Home page? We would like to know how the affiliate link code works regarding this matter?
Q.2: We would like our affiliate links to be associated with the Store Page rather than the Home page of the Company’s site. How do we get this to happen?
Thank You.

    Hi Grayce,

That is the first shortocode i mentioned.
If your store has the link http://www.example.com/store then you should put in your affiliate area page this shortcode [affiliates_url]http://www.example.com/store[/affiliates_url].
The affiliate area page is the dashboard for your affiliates. It can be created through Affiliates > Settings > Pages. It has some shortcodes but you can remove/ add your own.

    Kind regards,
    George

Thank you, George. We are still in need of assistance for Q.2: We would like the affiliate link to Lead directly to the Store Front Page instead of the Company Home page. We reviewed the information on the affiliate area page, as described here. But still not understanding what code to use and where to insert the codes? Thank You!

    Hi Graycem,

Once a visitor follows an affiliate link, a cookie with the affiliate id is stored in the browser.
This means that until the cookie expires, the affiliate can be credited with a referral.

You can share whatever link you prefer, if you append the affiliate url parameter to the link. This can be done automatically if you use the [affiliates_url] shortcode in your affiliate area page, as described here.
Furthermore, you can let your affiliates create their affiliate links by adding [affiliates_generate_url] shortcode in the affiliate area page. You can find the description here.

    Kind regards,
    George
