Referral based on post.

Hi guys.

I was just reading through the documentation for the Affiliates Enterprise API and started thinking about the possibility of a plugin to credit referrals based on a post.

For example, would it be possible to credit a referral based on a customers interaction with a blog post.
What I mean by this is I would like to find people to write guest blog posts on my site, and then be able to credit them with a commission based on the customers purchases as a result of reading the blog post.

My PHP skills are limited, but after reading through the documentation of the API it looks like this would be possible.

Is this something you guys would consider releasing as a plugin? or does something like this already exist?

All the best,
Josh

    Hi Josh,

You should then have a look at Pay Per Click integration.
Each writer should promote links to their articles and the integration will count clicks or visits.
You can install the integration through Affiliates>Settings>Integrations.

    Hope this one helps 🙂

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George.

What I had in mind was something along the lines of Some one writes a guest blog post for me.
I would then like to be able to attribute a commission to them based on a visitors purchase as a result of that post.

    For example:
John writes a guest blog post for the website.

Mike is influenced by the blog post to make a purchase

    John gets paid.

I understand that this could be accomplished if we add John’s URL parameter when he shares the post, which is a solution that is very easy to implement.

What I was thinking would e more along the lines of the possibility of John being paid a commission (smaller than a direct referral commission) if Mike purchase was influenced as a result of reading Joh’s post, either by clicking on links in the post, which could be accomplished by the parameter or simply by reading the post.

    Kind Regards.
    Josh

    Hi Josh,

That would depend on the interaction.
If you plan to post product reviews and want to grant commissions based on the reviewed product sales, then this can be accomplished by using an affiliate link to your store product inside the post. That doesn’t require anything special, just a link.

    Kind regards,
    George
