Determining value of affiliate payment

Posted in

Hi…I’ve been through the documentation and not found exactly my answer.

Using affiliate pro with woo commerce.

I want to pay my affiliates $100 per successful subscriber, at the time of first renewal. So someone signs up w/an aff link on day 1; we ship on day 13, and second shipment goes out on day 44. I want to pay $100 on day 44.

Until i sign up my first affiliate – i want to know this:

1. How do i set the amount of $100? In Affiliates…Settings I set “Default Referral Calcuation” to “Referral Amount”; and in “Default referral calculation value” i set to 100.
1a. how do i know this is $100????

2. Please confirm – that the affiliate will know the amount only if i modify the welcome email they get when they sign up to be an affiliate.

Thanks,
Ted

I think I have it – and above I made it seem more complicated than I intended.

    1. So, the product is in $, so the payment will be in $.
    2. I set [bold]Affiliates > Settings[/bold] to 90 – does that automatically mean 90 days from the first time someone arrives using that link? so, if they come back again on their own within 90 days, my affiliate will get credit for the sale? (which is what I want)
2a. or – do i need to do anything else to WP for this (like add something for setting cookies?)
    3. all payments are the same amount (i only sell one service) – so I can just manually pay my affiliates, I suppose..(I need to find that part of the documentation – it’s not obvious in the plugin.)

    Thanks,
    Ted

hmmm. what does referral timeout mean, then? i had intended it to be like a cookie, so a returning referral who didn’t buy but comes back in 90 days, would still be credited to the affiliate.

The Limit/Timeout setting I refer to is the one you find in the Affiliates > WooCommerce Integration section. It applies to recurring referrals. This is different from the Referral timeout setting under Affiliates > Settings which is related to the cookie and would apply to the time it takes the visitor from visiting the affiliate link to placing a purchase (e.g. the 90 days you mention).

    Hi Ted,

#1 The referral amount is in the currency of the related transaction. The system is in fact multi-currency capable, anyhow, when an order is placed in US$, it will attribute a referral to the affiliate in that currency.

#2 For the process you describe you will need a custom method or a customized filter on when referrals are recorded. OOTB the closest solution would be to set the Limit/Timeout to 45 and split the commission between the first and second referral, or, if you have a trial period, simply use a referral rate that adjusts to the desired referral amount and combine it with the timeout.

Please let me know if that helps or you need further guidance. We can also help with the customization or point you in the right direction for development.
