Sharing Affiliate Numbers

Posted in

Unfortunately the addThis plugin messes up the slider on my home page and it cannot be used. Instead I’ve inserted the addThis code in my footer and link tracking information is located where the affiliate information should be. For example when an affiliate tweets the resulting post reads:
Annatto Rice Recipe - Protective Diet https://protectivediet.com/recipe/annatto-rice#.Vq6iI8BIdKw.twitter
When it should read:
Annatto Rice Recipe - Protective Diet https://protectivediet.com/recipe/annatto-rice?affiliate=158
How do I fix this?

    Hi Jerry,
It should work fine. Please be sure you have enabled the Affiliates Addthis integration.
If you can, share the url.
    Kind Regards,
    Antonio B.

I notice that an affiliate’s original affiliate number is populated when sharing the URL. This is fine for most of my affiliates however some of the more active ones have new numbers because our affiliate program is only open to premium members of our site. When an affiliate downgrades to a free membership their spot in the affiliate program is deleted. When they re-upgrade their membership and rejoin the program they are issued a new affiliate number. For instance, Affiliate 10 left the program and rejoined. They are now associated as Affiliate 158 but the share button populates 10. Do you suggest I go into the database and delete expired affiliate numbers manually or can you update the plugin to reflect the current affiliate number?

        Hi Jerry,
the plugin uses the current affiliate id, maybe it’s a problem with cache.
Instead of remove and create new affiliates, you can use the expirations dates to set operative/inoperative the affiliates, so the affiliate id is alway the same. You can edit this date editing the affiliates in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates.
        Kind Regards,
        Antonio B.
