How long to track referral

I’m using Gravity Forms and have tied the forms to track referrals.

I did a test and it shows that I was a visitor but even though I filled out the form, it didn’t show the referral status update on the backend.

How long does this usually take or what may I have done wrong?

    Hey Nate,

    After two different test sessions that took place on your site, I have shown you that referrals can be properly recorded on your system, but still you haven’t mentioned how are you trying to test your forms. I think it’s most important to cover this matter first and then all the rest of them.

    Below you can find my replies on your questions.

    Once you login as affiliate, on which page are you redirected? I can only see a blank page on your document. Do you use any redirection plugins on your site?
    After getting the desired affiliate link from Affiliates Overview what are the actions that you followed?

    Affiliates referrals can be accepted through Affiliates > Referrals. Once you edit the desired referral you can change the status to Accepted. ( I’ve mentioned it on one of my previous comments )
    Affiliates payments can be processed manually. You can also generate a mass payment file through Affiliates > Totals and use it with PayPal or other payment processors that support bulk payments.
    Notification messages can be modified if you visit Affiliates > Notifications and alter the contents of the equivalent template.

    Regarding the point No 6 I’m not quite sure I understand your question.

    Kind regards,

      Thanks George.

      I will continue testing and come back to you. I really appreciate your responses.

    Can you please describe briefly the steps you follow when trying to test a form?

    • Nate Moller March 26, 2020 at 2:05 pm #

      I sent you a PDF document that goes through the steps I’m taking and the questions I have.

      Did you get that?

      Otherwise, I can copy/paste it here if you’d like.

      Let me know. (it includes screenshots)

    Hi Nate,

    Thanks, just added another form submission after using affiliate’s link with id 7.
    The referral is recorded under Affiliates > Referrals and is accepted. The referral amount is 20 according to the rate id 3 which is set for that form. If you are planning to use the same commission amount for all your forms then you can just omit the object #3 – Carpet Cleaning Appointment from that rate but it depends on your setup, or create a general rate for Gravity forms integration without selecting an Object value.

    Kind regards,

      Thanks George.

      I’ve seen your account work, but I can’t get the other accounts I’ve set up to work.

      Wondering if I’ve set them up wrong or something.

      Can you look into one of my accounts and the forms I’m trying to test?

      I see your form is working but haven’t seen mine work.

      Thanks for the communication.

    Hi Nate,

    IT shouldn’t have nothing to do with the IP. Please enable WP debugging and if you have deleted the account we used in the past, then create another one and send me the credentials to my email address, I’ll have another look at your forms and setup.

    Kind regards,

    Hey Nate,

    When the form is submitted the redirect that takes place shouldn’t have anything to do with whether the “submitter” has been referred or not.

    The referral process includes these parts in general.
    1. A cookie is stored in the visitor’s browser once a visitor follows an affiliate link.
    2. The visitor goes to the page and submits a form.
    3. If the referral option is enabled for that form, Affiliates plugin will record a referral upon submission to the affiliate whose id is stored in the cookie.

    All your referrals can be managed if you visit Affiliates > Referrals. You can edit the desired referral and change its status to Accepted.

    Kind regards,

      I get all that. Yes.

      But when I test the forms where I have turned on the Affiliate plugin, it’s showing visits but no referrals even though I’ve filled out the form.

      I’m not sure why these referrals aren’t getting tracked and where/if I’m going to have to go in and “Accept” the referral.

      I really need to make sure this works and right now it doesn’t seem to be working unless I have something set up incorrectly.

      Does it have anything to do with the IP address?

    Hi Nate,

    Thanks for the info, the setting for WP debugging is correct.
    We’ve created a test form on your site, added it to test page and performed a referred form submission successfully. If you visit Affiliates > Referrals you will the referral recorded and by expanding the data and details you can also see the form involved in this referral.

    Regarding your form we tried to test on the carpet cleaning form using your affiliate id but it seems to have an issue upon submission because it gives a 404 error. Please check the screenshot below and review your form settings once more.

    Kind regards,

      Hey George,

      After submitting the form on the Carpet Cleaning page, I’m taken to this page:

      I’m not sure this is what will happen if I’m using the affiliate tracking ID, but this is what happens currently.

      Let me know what I need to do.

      I’m meeting with the client tomorrow (over the phone 🙂 ) to review things.

      Thank you!

    Hi Nate,

    At first glance your settings seem to be correct, but IMO it’s better to have a quick look at your settings on-site. Can you please enable WP debugging and then send temp admin credentials to george at itthinx dot com?

    To enable debugging, edit your wp-config.php file and do the following:
    Replace this line:

    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, false );

    with these lines:

    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false );

    All log messages will be stored in wp-content/debug.log file.

    Kind regards,

    I’ve followed all those instructions and am still not seeing the referral come through when I test it.

    Here is the proof that it’s installed:

    And here’s the data showing stuff happened:

    And here’s the settings for the Gravity Form and Affiliates:

    Let me know if I’m missing something.

    Thank you!

    Hi Nate,

    Many thanks for using Affiliates Enterprise on your site.

    As a reminder after installing Itthinx Updates plugin and entering your license key you should go to Affiliates > Settings and under Integrations tab click to install Gravity Forms integration. Once this is installed follow the guide as described in our documentation for Affiliates Gravity Forms.
    Once the referrals are enabled for this form and at least a general rate exists in Affiliates > Rates, you should be able to see referral(s) once a visitor is referred using an affiliate link and submits this form under Affiliates > Referrals.
